Herzog Jo Lynne MD

Dr. Jo Lynne Herzog is a very honest, kind, caring doctor that I am proud to call part of my team of doctors required for someone that is afflicted with Lupus. She, as well as my many other doctors, goes above and beyond to help me in every way she can. Appointments are easy to obtain. Dr. Herzog stays on top of her profession by spending time reading and evaluating which procedures would best for her patients. I trust her and appreciate all she does for me!

I have been using Dr. Herzog for several years for cosmetic and for dermatology concerns and on my last visit was treated by the office staff unprofessionally. They were irritated that I asked questions regarding the cost of the procedure I had performed on me. One girl kept saying think and the other basically told me that I should have asked while I was back in the room. I usually have a credit because I purchase dysport in bulk and I just carry over what I don't use to the next month. I went ahead and paid the balance because I do think I used up what credit I had but was not sure. But today, a week later receive a notification that a claim was made with my insurance provider because I asked a simple question outside of me having a cosmetic procedure.

I see some negative reviews on here which shocks me. I normally don’t write reviews but wanted to share my experience because I have nothing but great things to say about Dr. H and her staff. The staff is always so friendly. They even call or text to check up on me after appointments. Sure, Dr. Herzog is very “to the point” and fast which could be misconstrued as rude. I don’t agree with that sentiment but that’s the only thing I can think of for these negative reviews about her bedside manner. The first time I went, I had a very small issue with what a staffer told me on the phone when I made my first appointment. . It was basically just miscommunication on details of my visit- nothing major. I wasn’t even mad about it but it came up during our visit. So, I told Dr. H and she addressed it immediately. I always get in and out very quickly. So, I highly recommend her!

Dr Herzog is a very good dermatologist and is very knowledgeable, however, her bedside manner is pretty bad. If you don’t care about bedside manner, then she is a perfectly fine doctor to go see. However, I find that there are plenty of other great dermatologists in Birmingham that also are compassionate and attentive to your needs which is why I no longer see her.

We have gone to see Dr Herzog for at least 10 years. She is thorough, professional and kind. All members of our family have seen her for one thing or another.
