James Rough, M.D. Plastic Surgery

Dr. Rough has performed or participated in 4 surgeries to treat both my first and second bouts with breast cancer and reconstruction. He is one of the kindest, caring and financially fair doctors I have every worked with. He gives out his personal cell number in case there are recovery issues over the weekend or at night. He is cautious about treatment options and will help his reconstruction and elective plastic surgery patients understand a risk/benefit treatment analysis to determine the best course of action for each patient. He is very patient and will spend as much time as the patient needs to discuss procedures and consider alternatives. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time, I knew that I could completely trust my cancer surgeon and Dr. Rough. He has strong and collegial working relationships with the best breast cancer surgeons in Tucson, his staff, and hospital colleagues. I would send (and have sent) anyone I know who needs a plastic surgeon for any reason to Dr. Rough and am very thankful that he has been my doctor since 2020. He is really extraordinary.

Dr Rough has the wonderful combination of being a skilled, careful and conscientious surgeon, with a great bedside manner! He is kind and caring and the fact that he really likes to help people is evident. He carefully explained the procedure, and what to expect prior to the surgery and was there whenever I might need to talk to him after the surgery. I never felt rushed. I felt well taken care of every step of the way and he even made me laugh the day of the surgery. I wouldn't want to go to anyone else in town after my very positive experience. Amazing first experience with Dr. Rough!! He & his staff are so kind and knowledgeable, and their compassion for their patients shines through everything they do. Upon my consultation, Dr. Rough was extremely thorough and took his time to explain & answer any questions I had. My experience with Dr. Rough has been exceptional and his team is amazing! I had a double mastectomy performed by Dr. Rough and he will also do the reconstruction. Dr. Rough is caring, skilled, approachable, makes you feel comfortable, extremely knowledgeable, and answers all questions so that you feel informed and educated. I just relocated from Boston, MA where they are known for being one of the best cities for medical and hands down, I think he is above and beyond any of the doctors I experienced in Boston!
