Lisa Zaleski-Larsen, DO

I came in seeking help for severe acne that I’ve struggled with for seven years. I was hoping for a thoughtful, personalized approach. Unfortunately, Dr. Lisa Zaleski-Larson immediately dismissed my concerns, disregarded my medical history (depression and IBS), and spoke to me in a condescending manner. She showed no bedside manner and no interest in actually helping me. Instead, she pushed oral antibiotics (which I had an allergic reaction to) and birth control. When I expressed that I wasn’t comfortable with Accutane just yet and wanted to explore the root cause of my acne, I was told “There is nothing more we can do for you at this office.” Her attitude was passive-aggressive, and it was clear she was in a hurry and had no interest in addressing my concerns as a whole person. If you’re looking for a dermatologist who actually listens and cares, I’d strongly recommend going elsewhere.

Check yelp for more accurate reviews-which I wish I had seen before. I’ve seen many fantastic dermatologists over the past decade and Dr. Lisa was the most disappointing physician I have seen. She runs through a rushed physical where she has her verbal script and took a very poor patient history. Reading her assessment in her medial note afterwards was laughable to me due to how little she actually knows about my history. Prescribed a bunch of things for me that I didn’t want because I’ve already tried and can’t actually take for various reasons, but when I asked her a couple questions during the exam she told me to wait or just didn’t answer the question and started talking about information non applicable for me. She does not really listen to her patients nor care enough to actually let me tell her the very brief but crucial information that determines plan of care. Office staff was fantastic, however they can not make up for a provider that would be better off not working in dermatology.

If you enjoy waiting months to get rushed through your appointment in under 2 minutes go see Dr Lisa Zaleski-Larsen, she even talks at super speed! Oh and I know her time so much more valuable than mine, because then I'm waiting a half hour in her office just to be seen for under 2 minutes..only to find out that she's unable to help me with my concerns..and I had to choose "only one concern...." her nurse said. Her staff is actually very nice. One of them said, "I'm sorry I'm just the messager" It's pretty ridiculous that patients get treated this way. I walked out of her office mid appointment so upset...she basically doesn't care.. No one deserves to be treated this way and every single time I've come here I am extremely rushed, like no joke, 2 minutes. I got diagnosed with pah from CoolSculpting, and adverse reaction where the fat actually grows instead of dies. I suffered for almost a year until I got surgery. Before surgery Dr Lisa told me she had the same experience with pah on her back, they do CoolSculpting at their office too, but she said she wouldn't do it on anyone because of her experience! It's now been 4 months since I have have had surgery (amazing doc in Maui )and I was excited to tell her about my recovery and had a few questions with healing, but she has NO time to listen, care for, or educate her patients. You would think that someone that has gone through this ( like herself ) would have a drop of empathy in their heart for someone that has suffered for almost a year with fat growing on their face even?! Like women to women...wtf? What's wrong with people? It's really unfortunate there are doctors out here that are "caring" for their patients.

The absolute worst experience with this clinic and their front desk at Hillcrest location. They scheduled my appointment which I had to wait over a month for and then cancelled it without even telling me few days before the appointment, sending me a message saying they don’t have my referral. They never told me they didn’t have my referral and just let me lose my appointment. And now I have to wait another month for a new appointment. Ended up redirecting my referral to a different clinic. Definitely the most unprofessional clinic I ever had to deal with.

Can’t believe that she has good reviews here! I had the worst experience with a dermatologist ever! Seriously! She sat with me for just 5 minutes, speaking so rapidly it was hard to follow. It seemed like she had no interest in understanding my problem, just in getting through the appointment quickly. For each issue, she handed me a pre-printed sheet – it was like a comedy! Nothing I couldn't have researched online myself. I mentioned a rash, and she suggested changing deodorants, handing me a generic info sheet. When I brought up psoriasis, she gave me another sheet. Without asking if I had any other concerns, she abruptly stood up to leave. Only when I mentioned another question did she inform me that insurance doesn't cover more than 5 issues, even though I had only discussed 2. She turned away and left! This doctor was a referral from my physician, so I didn't research beforehand. Now, reading reviews, I'm frustrated for not checking earlier. Sometimes you might think a review is exaggerated, but in this case, many people are saying the same thing. Don't make the same mistake – there are plenty of good doctors out there. Avoid wasting your time with her – she's entirely impersonal!
