Faces of the Mission

It has taken me a while to write this review, but I would strongly encourage anyone considering coming here to look elsewhere. TL;DR: Dr. Luque is unprofessional (reuses gloves), does not listen to feedback, and is verbally intimidating and belittling. I went in exactly 12 months ago today, to get a little fluid bubble removed from my inner lip. Dr. Luque’s office did manage to squeeze me in for a consult and an actual procedure same day, which I appreciated. After waiting about an hour to be seen from one “appointment” to the other, I walk into the surgery room and I notice the space looks kinda… dirty. Not the way I’d expect something to look pre-surgery. Notably, the bib is wrinkled and there is a clear set of used gloves on the table with the sterilized tools. I asked the assistants in the room why that was the case and they said that Dr. Luque was just reusing the gloves from our consult for the surgery. But where had those gloves been? How could I know they were the ones used on me? How long had they sat there (or where did they sit!?) since he had last used them about an hour earlier. Anxious and vulnerable, I let go of the matter. I didn’t know what to do. I sent a follow up email and photo to the front desk to let them know, however, how I’d prefer it to be handled in the future. They were gracious in their reply (all screenshots attached). HOWEVER, during my follow up appointment, Dr. Luque attempted to intimidate me, and chastise and belittle me. Instead of acknowledging my feedback, he went on to lecture me about how the mouth is not sterile (sure, it isn’t) and using gloves is normal (I’ve confirmed with other dentists… it’s not) and how it was rude of me to have said anything and not trust them, etc. In any case, they could have made an exception for me. This ONE time, they could have used new gloves, since I raised a concern. No one bothered. Needless to say, I actually had to walk out of the follow up appointment — Dr. Luque’s retort was clearly more important to him that checking whether I was properly healing from his surgery. I’ve never felt more upset after seeing a doctor. The way I was treated was completely inappropriate, and Dr. Luque’s inability to take feedback should be reason alone to never visit this practice.

Dr. Luque and his team are amazing!Professional, courteous and dental work perfectly performed. I've been a client for a couple of years, and I'm extremely pleased.

Dr Luque is one of the best doctors I have ever seen. I have severe dental anxiety so when I had to have an emergency tooth extraction it was extremely scary for me. Dr Luque treats the patient as a person not a number and is very aware of your total health (including your mental health). Also, Rosie at the front desk is the best. I couldnt be more thankful for having found this office to help me through my extraction and implant process!

I've been meaning to make a review for a couple of months now, but never got around to it. I usually don't leave reviews, but I had such a great experience here! Everyone was so kind and made my experience comfortable. I got my wisdom teeth out around October and recovered well with no problems. The office called to check in on me as well. I highly recommend this office.

I was referred to Faces of the Mission by my regular dentist. When I first called they didn't have any available appointments for several months. But they did squeeze me into the schedule for a date 2 weeks out. Then much to my surprise and delight they called me yesterday and made an appointment for me one week ahead. The staff were all professional yet friendly. Dr. Luque's assessment and recommendations were clear and detailed. Everything was taken care of that morning and the staff was always attentive to me and my comfort. I am very happy with the outcome and the timeliness of the procedure.
