I am only providing 1 star to be able to post. What a waste of time and money. I saw Johnathan Cox after waiting 30 minutes and only seeing him for 5. I had two lesions removed with a cold burn. 5 months later, one still remains. I am not concerned with this as much as the fact that he was more concerned with moving on to the next patient. The total bill was $668.00. After insurance, my total bill was $189, and some change (still overpriced). Upon leaving and waiting to pay my office co-pay, I observed Dr. Cox got impatient with a patient who had not changed fast enough for a full body scan. He wasted no time to move on to another patient who more than likely had a later appointment time. Thus leaving the first patient to wait even longer. It is so unfortunate to see that his priorities were to pack in as many patients in a short amount of time over actually providing care to each one. Prior to seeing Dr. Cox, my PCP's diagnosis was exactly the same. He had advised that dermatology appointments were hard to come by, so keep it. I undoubtedly know that it would have been more affordable to have had my PCP perform the same procedure and possibly a better outcome. Also, upon reading my invoice , I noticed that it stated that I had refused a full body scan. This is false, and I had mentioned other concerns. Dr. Cox said that I would have to schedule a full body scan appointment. I am absolutely disappointed in the care that was provided or there lack of. Wouldn't/will not recommend Advanced Dermatology.
The support staff was good (I don’t expect excellence everywhere I go with everything I encounter), my expectations are always managed. The provider in question was a concern, the PA-C, providing care (mind you) made me question why I was there. I was recommended by my PCP to this practice, not this location. I see why, otherwise a sunny disposition (which is not required, but a bonus) left the room once this person determined the appointment was over while I still had concerns. I was ushered out, paid my due and now I just have to make another appointment to go somewhere else or to go here again. Funny how that works, it’s simply not funny when it doesn’t work, this doesn’t work.
INSURANCE FRAUD! I never write bad reviews but I feel like I have to. I had a horrible experience here. I saw Jonathan Cox numerous months ago. I waited in the exam room for 25 min without a notice that he was running late. He was in the exam room for 5 minutes. I felt like he was rude, short and clearly unhappy to be seeing me. It was so clear that he was eager to get to the next patient. I didn’t feel comfortable asking all of the questions that I wanted to. When I walked out of the room, the woman at the desk said I had to pay ~$170 before I left the building. I asked if my insurance covered any of it or discounted it. She said she checked and they didn’t so I had to pay. I paid and felt like that was the hugest waste of money ever. A few weeks later I stumbled across my insurance log in and saw that I should have been charged $20 because my insurance did cover most of it. This embarked a serval week battle of me calling their billing department, asking for a manager, being promised a call back and never getting one. They finally refunded me without calling me back or telling me…or apologizing. So they took my money and the money from my insurance while telling me I didn’t need to look into it because she already confirmed my insurance wouldn’t cover it. I will never return.
I love seeing Dr. Robinson as my derm specialist and her medical assistant team but the front desk staff at this office were too busy eager to get their smoothies and coffees to assist me in a professional manner during my last visit. I did Not get any of their names but they gave me a rough time over payment even though they can see my history of payments - and balances always paid off. I’ve never had a problem getting samples and they intentionally didn’t want to give me healing ointment even though all derm offices have healing ointment they can provide to a patient after cutting a patients skin opened for a biopsy. The staff should get trained at Westminster or the poplar street office so they can learn how to provide more efficient and appropriate customer service.
TLDR do not schedule preventative care they will not bill with a preventative code. do not count on them responding to questions or concerns within 6 weeks. Background I scheduled a preventative care visit since my insurance covered it in full. When I saw the doctor he came in and confirmed I was here for a preventative visit. However, when I was billed I had a balance due. I called billing who told me they don't have a code to bill for preventative. I expressed that this is something I felt they should have communicated before I set the appointment up since I couldve scheduled somewhere that could bill preventative. They suggested I call the office to talk this through. I called for two weeks, left messages, and couldn't get through. I finally got a call back from the office manager who told me she could call back within a week. That call is now more than 3 weeks overdue. I've called 10+ times. I even got through to the office 5 days ago and was promised a call back by end of day, from the office manager. After calling back 3 times in a morning, I finally got through to the office manager. There was no acknowledgement that I had been blown off for 3+ weeks or apologies for making me play chase. My bill has been past due for a month and I've voiced concerns that continue to be met with complacency. This office has shown poor communication, responsiveness, and conflict resolution from the beginning. I would not count on any concerns being properly handled here.
