Unfortunately my experience with Dr Boden was not a positive one. I spent over $20K on two FUE transplants and my hair still looks awful. People who don't know that I had a transplant ask me if I thought about getting one because it looks like I'm losing my hair. I tried to resolve my issues with Dr. Boden but ultimately I was unsuccessful. Personally he is a nice guy but I feel he does what he thinks you should have done and not what you ask for.
I had a great experience with Dr. Boden. I had my hair restoration procedure with him about a year ago. He has been knowledgeable, considerate, and professional throughout the entire process. I am very satisfied with my results so far. My hair is noticeably thicker where I had the transplant, and it looks natural. I highly recommend Dr. Boden if you are considering hair restoration.
After 2 years I continue to be satisfied with my procedure and my hair looks and feels great. It's incredibly important to follow through on post treatment medication and routines to maintain results. I ran out of medication and was lazy about refilling and had some fall out, but quickly recovered. Dr. Boden and his team are always available and check in regularly. I still recommend Dr. Biden and his staff completely! Dr. Boden and his team are some of the most knowledgeable, honest, and compassionate professionals I have interacted with. The consultation was in-depth, informative, and in no way trying to coerce me into any specific treatment for my hair loss. I ended up wanting a hair transplant, and Dr. Boden recommended the FUT procedure. Dr. Boden and his staff were readily available if I had questions, and they were proactive with communicating during the time between my consultation and procedure. On the day of the procedure, everything was focused on making me as comfortable as possible. Dr. Boden and his team were attentive and frequently checked in to ensure I was not in any pain or discomfort. In all honesty, the procedure was relaxing and as pleasant as a procedure like a hair transplant could possibly be. An anecdotal example of Dr. Boden caring about my comfort is when he noticed discomfort in my eye. He had me take a break and he examined my eye, finding something stuck in it. He made sure to give me contact information for optometrists near my hometown and later called me personally to check on how my eye appointment went. The post operation procedure was clearly communicated, and I was given all materials needed follow the post-op care plan. Surprisingly, the pain level was completely manageable and as long as I took the ibuprofen, my post operation pain was minimal. Dr. Boden called to check in on me the day after the procedure to make sure there were no concerns on my end. Two weeks after the procedure, the stitching from where the follicles were removed were taken out, and Dr. Boden examined my scalp to ensure the healing process was going as planned. Overall, this was one of the most pleasant medical procedures I have ever had. Dr. Boden is a class act, and his team, from the front desk, to surgical assistants, are top notch. I would not hesitate to go back to this practice if I ever wanted a procedure again.
Excellent physician. Detailed explanations of options and pros and cons of those options, takes his time with the visits, not rushed. He manages expectations in terms of letting me know it gets worse before it gets better, and he was right. A few months out I thought the procedure was a bust, but he warned me that was the natural progression. However, one year out and hairline is exactly as we drew it. He produced outstanding results and it is exactly what we discussed. Impressive.
Had a FUT hair transplant on my frontal area from Dr. Boden and his team and I gotta admit; Dr. Boden really does know his stuff. There's a good amount of board certified hair surgeons in my city (NYC) but being based in Manhattan, they're really expensive. I went to Dr. Boden because he's board certified too but I figured that he would be cheaper given that he's based in Connecticut. Boden himself might be the nicest doctor I've ever met in my life, and he was good at trying to address my concerns and not make the consultation feel like a sales pitch. During the consultation, he actually encouraged me to get a second opinion before committing to surgery. If he was solely after my money, I don't suppose he would've done that. The most important thing though is that he and his team actually do some good work. My frontal area is much better than it used to be, so much so that I've started going out more and more without my cap on. I could still use a touch up around the hairline and will eventually have to fill my balding crown area but for now, I'm very happy. The transplant itself went smoothly and his staff was very good at answering my many questions in the post-op. Twelve and a half months in and I'm happy to say that I've seen the fruits of his good work. All in all, I would say that you should strongly consider Dr. Boden if you live in the tri-state, especially if you're trying to find an ethical doctor. If you're considering a hair transplant, I would strongly recommend you start taking Minoxodil and Finasteride first. If you go to Boden or any other reputable doctor without doing so, I imagine they'd put you on that medication first before considering doing hair surgery on you. Dr. Boden's also the only doctor I know who can prescribe 10% and 15% topical Minoxodil (topical is usually prescribed in 5%). I imagine that stuff could have great results but I don't take it, as I prefer taking my 5% oral Minoxodil instead. If there's a stronger form of oral Minoxodil, I'd probably consider that tbh. The photos I attach with this review include 3 photos of me before the transplant and 3 photos about a year after the transplant. The photos might be posted in any random order but I'm sure you guys could figure out which ones are which. I blurred out my face so you guys won't have to see my ugly mug.
