UPDATE: The owner reached out to me and we are in process of a plan to correct the damage caused by an employee. He was incredibly and sincerely apologetic, empathetic, professional, and kind. He went above and above to problem solve the situation. Additionally, he did refund my original payment. Will continue to update as the plan progresses. Original post: I apologize for this long post- I typically do not post, but I felt compelled to share my story- I have had several skull surgeries, have a hearing implant, and have weird scars and was finally getting my hair to grow back. Because of said surgeries (and the implant), it is very painful to have a hairdresser touch my head so I tend to cut and color it myself. I am at a point that I wanted to stop coloring my hair myself and was seeking color correction to go to my natural color. I decided to use a professional to help me get there. I researched reviews online, found someone who had good reviews who specializes in corrective color, and went in 2 weeks ago for a free consultation. We looked at pictures, came up with a plan, and made an appointment. I went to Laura at Vogue on 24 for my appointment and things went off the rails. She did stuff that we did not talk about and when I questioned her, she said that she felt this was a better way to go. Meanwhile, she had booked me for almost 2 hours, yet proceeded to take other clients- both before we started (so I sat for a half hour waiting- I thought maybe she was just behind) and then took others while she was coloring my hair, which I think was distracting for her as she left me for longer than the manufacturer recommended time for the color/bleach service. She did not use a timer. Once she started, now I was stuck. I should have walked out when I saw the red flag of multiple clients before I even started my service- first lesson learned. When she washed out my hair, it was so horrifying that I started shaking and bawling, sitting there like a moron. She claims she “misunderstood”-I think she was distracted by all the other clients she was squeezing in- it was so stressful and chaotic. She offered to fix it and as I did not think I could fix it myself, I let her. I picked a color.... she used a different one (lesson two- speak up) and my hair is worse than prior to going in. In the process, I asked why there were weird stripes and she replied it was “how my hair hung” …um, I have never had this before with any other experienced hairdresser (she claimed she has 40 years experience). See pictures of the stripes. My hair feels like hay and is breaking off! I was trying to grow it, now I want to shave my head... Plus, she charged me double what she quoted (but did not charge for the second dye job)- and I was there for OVER SIX HOURS! I was in agony (my head was killing me from laying on the sink), starving, crying…Never again.... I do not know why I had to pay for a service that was not what I verbally agreed to. Is this not a verbal contract? I paid out of guilt for her time, despite my hair being ruined- lesson three, advocate for things you are paying (or not paying for).
