I had a lip suction and fat transfer to my hips and caught mycobacterium abscessus from it. This is a bacteria that’s usually transmitted through contaminated instruments during surgery. I’ve been suffering for 7 months now, undergone 4 surgeries to remove the infected areas, yet; I’m still battling this bacteria. Dr. Vega claimed I could be having fat necrosis and wanted to charge me thousands of dollars for antibiotic treatments. I had to get admitted in the hospital for worsening of my condition and that’s when infection and disease informed me that I have this rare bacteria that’s resistible to antibiotics. I texted her and let her know about my situation, however; never even heard back from her or her office to even check up on how I’m doing. I now have many scars on my hips do to undergoing many I&Ds. I am very disappointed. I really liked Dr. Vega as a person she seemed compassionate and willing to help yet felt very neglected as none of her team tried to reach out or at least help with a mistake that was clearly her fault.
