The service that I received was great. The staff was excellent at resolving my skin issues. However, I had a very difficult time resolving some billing issues. I didn’t have insurance at the time, so I paid for everything out of pocket. I was more than prepared to pay for the $1,000 worth of services that Florida Skin Center provided me with. HOWEVER, it was to my surprise that my account had an extra $140 that wasn’t paid yet. (I paid for my visits in full before leaving the office every time.) So I tried to resolve the issue by letting the staff know, but the $140 still remained unpaid on my account.. I got a 3rd notice in the mail for the unpaid balance, so I ended up just paying the dang amount and filing a dispute through my credit card. Florida Skin Center sent me a notice stating that the $140 balance would be sent to collections if I didn’t pay it. The bill wasn’t worth my time or stress, so I ended up just paying the amount and giving up. To my surprise, my ongoing dispute was just denied and I was charged ANOTHER $140 on top of the amount that I previously paid. I have never had this much difficulty paying for any service, I just don’t understand why I had to pay $280 in spoof charges… anyway, if you’re paying out of pocket at Florida Skin Center, good luck….
This place is all about making money. In my experience, they push unnecessary appointments just to rack up charges. I went in a few days ago for a simple prescription for seborrheic dermatitis and athlete’s foot, and the visit cost me $200. I was in and out in just a few minutes, yet they scheduled a follow-up only a month later—something no other dermatologist has ever done. Clearly, just another way to get another $200. Then, when I called the next day because I forgot to mention my issue with sweaty hands and simply needed a prescription for an antiperspirant, they refused unless I scheduled another full appointment. The doctor had barely done anything during my visit—just asked what I needed and prescribed it—yet they insisted I come in again just for a basic prescription. That would have been three separate visits in one month, which is outrageous. I’ve had other doctors in the past who, in similar situations, had no problem calling in a prescription without an extra appointment. But this place? Completely money-driven. I noticed a shift years ago when they were bought out by an investment firm, and it’s only gotten worse. Avoid this place at all costs—there are much better options out there.
Excellent Doctor with a great staff and front desk. Was in terrible pain from a neck lesion, got treated right away, and 48 hours later pain free. Seems I had a fast growing cyst, and I was afraid it was a spiderbite. I don't have insurance, and the cost was very affordable. This is a busy place with many doctors, Dr. Jay is my hero! Thanks! Take my advice, and ignore any reviews less than 5 Star. This thing was the size of a roma tomato in 2 daystime. (see photo)
They are an amazing Group!! Very friendly and care very much for their patients!! Couldn't say enough good words about them !!
I felt patronized a bit. The office and front desk ladies were quite professional & helpful. But for the life of me..I felt like the Doc was giving me a lame diagnosis & feel I was given an unnecessary antibiotic..its why half the population has MERSA . IT IS A PARASITIC ATTACK and no one wants to give me the right stuff ..Insurance & Pharmacology is being milked instead of going in for the kill..But what do I know!? I was involveded the medical field 15 years..Just don't like that feeling of being on the other side of things. 8 saved lives for a living..now disabled, can't even save my own * sigh
