Other patient reviews call Dr. Patel “honest,” “compassionate,” “moral” and “kind.” I agree with all. But in addition to his decency, I chose Dr. Patel for his smarts and his unique surgical technique for relieving thumb joint arthritis. Some other procedures promise a quicker recovery, which may be true, but Dr. Patel uses a sliver of the patient’s own tendon, which he threads twice through a tiny tunnel, to secure the metacarpal. Many surgeons only weave the tendon once, allowing for the possibility of slippage. In Dr. Patel’s words, his work “Isn’t going anywhere.” Ultimately, patients enjoy a longer-lasting result with a greater range of motion. At 10 weeks post-op, my thumb is pain-free and fully-functional for the first time in eight years. In addition, Orlando Hand Surgery Associates is a well-run practice. I think I have been able to talk to a human being nearly every time I’ve called and on the rare occasion I’ve left a message, my call was handled promptly. Nor have I ever been kept waiting. While I am not excited about undergoing the same surgery for my other thumb, I am completely confident in Dr. Patel.

I was very apprehensive when I first went to Dr Patel’s office in Orlando. Having had a bad experience prior, I was in extreme pain, however Dr Patel took the time to address my concerns about getting an injection and he made me feel comfortable. Before I could count to two, it was done! Unbelievable! Dr. Patel knows his stuff, he is confident, caring and professional. Because of his expertise, he has saved me from a complicated surgery. Orlando Hand Surgery Assoc in Lady Lakes is very clean and welcoming. The staff is very friendly and efficient. Dr Patel was also very pleasant and efficient. I am new to living in Florida so this was my 1st appointment. Once I filled out the information needed on their iPad I was taken in for x-rays and brought to the exam room. As soon as I sat down Dr Patel came right in (talk about efficiency). I highly recommend them.

I was referred to Dr Anup Patel MD by one of his partners at Orlando Hand Surgery Associates and met him for the first time the day of surgery. He spoke with me prior to the surgery and eased my fears about the procedure and follow up care. He explained to me that he also did plastic surgery and the surgical incision would be less prominent. I am so grateful to Dr. Patel for his surgical expertise in the repair of my left arm fracture. He has patiently answered all my questions and his compassionate care and understanding has helped me to recover the use of my arm and hand. Dr. Patel is outstanding. I have been seeing him for trigger finger and for arthritis in my thumb. The relief I have gotten was immediate and long lasting. He is easy to get an appointment with and is in The Villages every Tuesday. He is also a plastic surgeon and my wife has seen him for facial fill and his work in that area is artistic. His training is at a very high level. Dr. Patel is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon trained in hand/upper extremity surgery, microsurgery, and plastic and reconstructive surgery. He completed his plastic and reconstructive surgery training at Yale University followed by a hand and microsurgery fellowship at the New York University Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery. Dr. Patel received his MD and MBA from Yale University School of Medicine and Yale University School of Management, respectively. He graduated as the valedictorian of his class at the University of Florida majoring in economics, biochemistry and molecular genetics and valedictorian of his high-school class at Lake Highland.
