I usually don’t leave reviews, but after my fourth visit to the Port Orange office of Blue Ocean Dermatology, I feel compelled to share my experience. First, I want to highlight Gloria—she is an absolute sweetheart and always provides excellent care, same goes for Alexis who treated me before. However, the receptionist, Ronda, needs to improve her interactions with patients. She rarely makes eye contact, doesn’t greet patients warmly, and comes across as dismissive and rude. I previously mentioned this issue to Gloria, who said she would bring it up to the "owner," Jason, but unfortunately, nothing has changed. Scheduling and wait times are also a major issue. Today, I had a 9:30 AM appointment with Nitra, but I noticed three patients scheduled at 9:45 AM also with Nitra, were called in before me. Despite the sign stating, "If you experience a wait time longer than 20 minutes, please see the receptionist," when I approached Ronda about it, she barely acknowledged me and simply said, "She has another patient before you." At that point, it was 10:25 AM, and I was still waiting. When finally I was called in, I still had to wait in the room to be seeing, by the time Nitra came it was too late for me to stay since I had another appointment scheduled. This isn’t the first time I’ve experienced long waits. During my last visit, I had an appointment with Gloria as well as another provider, I believe her name is Selena. I waited almost an hour to be seen, and when I approached Ronda about the delay, she actually snapped at me instead of offering an explanation or assistance. If patients' time is valuable, the office should not overbook or schedule multiple people at the same time for one provider. I hope management takes these concerns seriously because while the medical staff is great, the front desk experience and scheduling practices need significant improvement.
Sure Jason is awesome but it's his practice. The real heros are the support staff. One of Jason's MAs is Lisa. This lady rocks! I've needed a preauthorization for a medication. That my insurance was going round and round with me. Lisa makes one phone call and the problem is solved! After 6 months of waiting for medication I need. Lisa gets it done! Thank you Lisa.
Employees at this dermatology center order Starbucks from UberEats and then remove the tips from the delivery drivers after their order is delivered. Edited to add: Every word of this post is truthful and accurate. The review would have been removed if the proprietor had exhibited even a modicum of empathy.
Took months to get an appointment, they could not get my insurance confirmed. My wife had to do it for them. Saw Dr. McGriff and he told me to put vaseline on my skin issues instead of freezing or removing. He would not remove a skin tag and referred me to the Daytona office. So I paid a $80 co payment for nothing I tried to call the Daytona office manager 3 times, but they never returned my call. Find a better provider.
I went to go see Nitra Welch and had the most comfortable experience I’ve ever had with a doctor. Including my own primary. She was calming and understanding and I left with every bit of information I needed to care for my issue. Had I went to her in May, I probably wouldn’t have needed to come now (in the end of August). Her and her team of nurses comforted me while I had to receive an injection. I have a an extremely bad phobia and started breaking out into a sweat and these sweet ladies fanned me down and talked me through it all. Extremely nice people here. Not to mention I got pretty bad anxiety and they made me feel at ease.
