Shanda helped me with many of my problems, she knows what she's really talking about. She's done a couple biopsies on me, and removed atypical moles. She explained everything to me very thoroughly and was very gentle. Her nurse that numbed my back was very good at her job, I didn't even feel it. They all had a good vibe to be around, and made me feel very comfortable, even tho my vagina was wide out.
I am very satisfied with Both Doctors. Very satisfied with all of the Nurses that have taken care of me except 1. . The young lady that took my stitches out was very gentle. I am very Dissatisfied with the way that Bethany Chance sewed my face up. I think she could have done a whole lot better job. She will never ever be in the same room that I am in.. She had three stitches inner twined together that is ridiculous. I have Knots on my face. Bethany absolutely done the worst job I have ever had and I've had a lot of stitches. Very Dissatisfied.
I began seeing Shanda due to a skin issue I caught working in healthcare. However, at that same time she discussed a skin check with me and how important it is to do. She had found a mole that she recommended I have removed and had tested. Found out it was melanoma. Dr. VanAcker did a surgery that removed the rest of it. If it was not for Shanda and her knowledge, professionalism and passion for her job, I may not have ever been diagnosed and treated for my cancer.
Negligent care and dismissive of actual concerns. Shanda spent three minutes with my husband during a new patient appointment for a painful nail issue he has been dealing with for years that suddenly got SIGNIFICANTLY WORSE. His family doctor told him he should urgently seek a dermatologist after witnessing a large growth come out of his finger in her office last week. Usually, NPs are more attentive than doctors and more willing to listen to their patients, but that was NOT the case with Shanda. She was clearly in a rush and deferred to the doctor without even doing the legwork herself to make sure he had adequate information to provide the patient with care. Shanda walked in and told us she'd heard the story (even though records hadn't been sent over). She didn't ask any questions or want any information during the appointment because she needed to talk to a real doctor about it. Shanda took one picture of his finger to share with the real doctor, but barely even looked while she was taking it. She didn’t even make sure it showed the shiny/constricted half inch by inch section of hardness to the right of the more obvious part that looked raw. She didn’t put gloves on and touch the skin to feel how hard it is or that it feels like there is a mass under his skin. She didn’t consult with his family care doctor who sat with him while they pulled out a growth last week (about a centimeter by 1/3 of an inch). When I asked if she needed more pictures of other stages of the process, she dismissed me (and apparently was offended because she brought it back up when she called us as though it was me yelling and being rude to her when I just wanted to make sure they had a thorough patient history.) When we asked when we might hear back she said that if her patients weren’t CHATTY, she could do it faster — as though our three minute appointment was cutting into her day. She called back an hour and a half later to tell us we should rest assured that the real doctor has been in practice since 1995 so he DEFINITELY knows what he is talking about, and he is absolutely certain this is all self-inflicted from looking at the picture and talking to her. She recommended my husband put some vaseline on it (or not) and wrap it with a bandaid for three months so that it will magically heal -- like it hasn't in 5 years. She should have done a biopsy of what is growing (now much faster) to the right of his fingernail. Instead she was dismissive and condescending. Shanda was very calm while she was being dismissive. She never raised her voice, but she did accuse me of yelling when I told her she was wrong and begged for her to look at the rest of his record or other pictures (with shaking voice and tears rising in my eyes). When she accused me of being belligerent and condescendingly told my husband she could only talk to him, she mentioned my "outburst" in the office -- which I assume was when I offered to send pictures and other relevant medical documentation. I know when I'm being rude, and I assure you, I was never -- until that point. Then, I DID yell a bit in the background. SHAME on her and the real doctor for not being thorough in their care and for being so condescending to a patient. Here she is telling a man it's all in his head when his finger is obviously producing hard painful growths which are medically documented, and he has legitimate concern that he may have nail cancer or some other serious illness. Does it really surprise you that his wife would start crying in the background and begging you to DO YOUR JOB? It's negligent and reprehensible to accuse a patient of causing their own pain or illness when that clearly isn't what is happening. His own doctor saw the growth last week and saw what came out of it. She's the one who told us to go to a dermatologist. Maybe consult the record and do your job. Clearly this place makes their money from Botox and isn’t concerned about legitimate skin issues affecting actual health. I wouldn’t recommend this facility to anyone who wants more than rushed fillers.
Shanda does a wonderful job with my daughter. She has ADHD and doesn’t always listen and Shanda and her staff are very patient with her and spends the time with her to make sure she understands her instructions.
