Hancock Dermatology - Greenfield

I grew sicker and sicker, even experiencing the onset of sudden joint weakness, under the care of Dr. Stanford’s Physician Assistant Taylor Spera, until another physician finally tested my skin and found it was a rare bacterial infection. I was prescribed the appropriate antibiotic by another provider and my condition rapidly improved. Not once at Greenfield Dermatology was any diagnostic test performed on my skin, nor did I ever see Dr. Sanford or either of her DO’s. In my case, Taylor Spera, P.A. provided an incorrect diagnosis and treatment based on her limited experience and lack of training to know when to bring an issue to her supervising physician. I strongly feel, and I am warning others, that Taylor Spera / Dr. Lori Sanford are certainly capable of missing a cancer diagnosis if they missed a serious rare bacterial infection (that can cause septic arthritis). This type of bacterial infection is also known to enter the bloodstream and cause sepsis and death. To prevent cases such as mine and worse, perhaps Taylor Spera’s breadth of practice should be limited to the treatment of simple acne or in the med-spa realm, her inexperience and overconfidence is a danger to patients. I brought my concerns about environmental exposure and request for testing many times with her, but I was met with the same response, to the point where I felt during a visit that saying anymore would be “mouthing off”, so I dropped the issue and left with refills for the same medications. I have never encountered a provider of any age, background, or specialty that was as dismissive of my condition as Taylor Spera, P.A., especially in this situation when no actual testing was done to base her diagnosis on. In 6 months+ time of treatment at this office I wasn’t even told when asked many times if my infection was bacterial or fungal or something else. I’m tremendously disappointed by the care I received from Hancock Dermatology. I also have serious concerns about the clinical oversight given to Physician Assistant Taylor Spera by her overseeing physician Dr. Sanford. Steps need to be taken by Dr. Sanford so serious issues, such as rare bacterial infections or possible cancers, are brought to her attention in a timely manner by her treatment-providing staff. I would advise anyone who is being treated at Greenfield Dermatologist to reevaluate the care they may be receiving and seek another medical opinion, especially if only being under the care of Taylor Spera, Physician Assistant.

Dr. Sanford, her clinicians and staff are first-class. Patients are always treated with kindness and the utmost care. Referrals and appointments are required.

I visited a dermatologist for the first time in years last month for chapped lips. While there, Taylor discovered a melanoma on my back in a spot I can’t see. Dr. Sanford performed the excision & did an excellent job with the procedure and follow-up care. As I left today, I passed a sign that said “Dr. Sanford has saved 67 lives this year from melanoma.” Make that 68!!! Thank you for the excellent care. (I should also mention that the staff practices what they preach as all of the PAs & physicians I’ve met there have unbelievable skin!)

Abby, PA, is AWESOME. You have to make this office your care team. The whole team is GREAT! I had a few things excised and didn’t feel a thing. She completely eliminated a condition I had in virtually no time at all and real knows her stuff
