Dr. Kimberly Short

I should have listened to my gut more before going into this surgery. 1) At my consultation, I spoke mostly with other staff of Dr. Shorts about the breast augmentation I wanted done. I talked to Dr. Short herself for maybe 5 minutes at the end of the appointment. It felt odd that I only talked with the surgeon who was performing my surgery for not even 10 minutes. She felt very rushed when she came in, and told me to bring pictures of my ideal look on the day of surgery so she could print them out and hang them up during surgery. 2) On the day of surgery, I met with Dr Short for the second time, right before my surgery, for again, 5 minutes. When she was about to leave, I pulled out my phone asking “do you want to see the photos?” She said yes and peered at them for a split second and walked away. Going into surgery I felt VERY nervous as there was little discussion between her and I about what exactly was being done, and I had no clue if we were on the same page. 3) After surgery, I had some healing issues. In no way am I blaming Dr Short as I don’t believe it was anything she caused, and I’m aware everyone’s body reacts differently to devices such as breast implants. Although, Dr Short prescribed me an antibiotic, as well as singular to help prevent capsular contractor, as I was at higher risk. After a few weeks (I forget exact timeline) I went back for another post op and dr short told me I was good to stop taking the antibiotics and singular. On my way out, one of her nurses, Jackie, came up to me separately and told me she wanted me to continue the medication, after she was in the room when Dr. Short instructed me to be done. Very unprofessional as I didn’t know who to listen to, as her nurse was contradicting information she had told me. 4) My implants ended up dropping and fluffing, but were sagging bad. I went to another surgeon, who requested my records from Dr. Short and The Gillian Institute. I was told I needed to approve the transfer of my information from one doctor to another. Before I even got the chance to, my information was sent to the new surgeon WITHOUT MY CONSENT. Yes, I would’ve consented anyway. But it makes me nervous as anyone could’ve asked to release my information and they would send it before confirming with me?? Jackie was very nice, and never made me feel like I was bothering her with all my issues post op. I really liked her, but was confused when the medication issue came about. I also had a very nice nurse for my pre op, who I loved. I had good experiences with everyone but Dr. Short. Overall, I was extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with the way I was treated and cared for by Dr Short. It felt like Dr. Short was always in a rush, and never took the time to really sit down and listen to what I, the patient, wanted done to my body. I didn’t realize how strange this was until I met with 4 other surgeons for consultations (8 months after surgery w dr short) and got to speak with them 1 on 1 regarding everything with my new surgery for over 45 minutes. I wish I would’ve done my research sooner, as I just had a breast lift and new implants to fix the results of my surgery from Dr. Short. I thought about going back to Dr Short, but soon realized I was probably going to get the same result because I felt like we were never 100% on the same page and that she didn’t care too much about what I was saying.

Had breast implant surgery in December. Had a great experience all around. Should have posted my review earlier but time slips away. Even during Covid, I was very pleased with the entire experience. Surgery went well and very happy with my personal results! Something I’ve always wanted and so glad with how it turned out! Would absolutely recommend! Jackie was great working with and prompt to respond to emails. Dr. Short was amazing and to the point. Ps- added photos right at 6 weeks out. I know it’s my “selfies” but I assume it would be nice to actually get an idea of the work haha!

I am six weeks out from my procedure done at the Gillian institute by Dr Kim Short. I can not say enough good things about my experience there. I wish I could remember the names of all of the staff members, as every single one of them have been very kind and professional. Jackie is totally amazing. She has gone over and above to be sure that I and my husband understand everything about my surgery and recovery. Also the two nurses that stayed overnight with me-- Misty and Jessica-- were terrific. I'm sure I was a handful, as i am an RN myself. I am pleased with the results of my procedure, though I'm still healing. Dr Short worked her magic on me, and I would not go to anyone else for my beauty touch ups. She and her staff are top notch providers, with a gorgeous facility. Thanks to all of you!! I now feel like family.

Dr. Short and her staff were amazing! I felt very comfortable that I had the information and support I needed before going into surgery and my recovery could not have been better! I had breast augmentation surgery- 400cc silicone implants under the muscle and they are the perfect size for me and continue to look better everyday. I LOVE my new breasts and couldn't be happier!

I had a breast reduction surgery with Dr. Kimberly Short back in 1999 (22 years ago!) before she was at the Gillian Institute, and I want to share with everyone how happy I still am to this day with the work she did. Five years after the surgery, I got pregnant, and was able to breast feed, which was super important to me. I also have feeling in both of my nipples and they’re still shaped beautifully. I think this really says something about this doctor’s level of skill and attention to detail. She may never know how she changed my life that day, but I hope she reads this and knows she is making a difference! ❤️ I know how important reviews are when choosing a doctor, and so I hope someone finds this review from 20+ years later helpful!!
