Julie Catlin is kind and thorough. Advanced Dermatology has a wonderful team. I highly recommend. I've been going there several years. Thank you for taking care of my skin health!
I used to love this office. Now you can't get thru to anyone, going to a large queue somewhere. Now they charge you to use your credit card. Just sad. Desk staff is inappropriate. LOVED my provider, sad to have to leave. EDIT: I reached out to the office prior to this post and was rudely told that signs are everywhere and basically nothing they will do regarding charging my card as "signs are posted". Forgive me for not seeing a posted sign as the check out individual was telling me how she punched her dentist and broke his teeth. I work in a dental office and was in uniform. I was mortified. And also distracted by her disgustingly long nails (they were not workplace appropriate for healthcare). So all those reading reviews, just keep this in mind!
I initially visited Clifford Amos with hope, having read positive reviews about his background and experience. My first appointment was decent, though it lacked the warmth and thoroughness I expected from someone labeled as an “excellent physician.” The visit ended with a diagnosis of keratosis pilaris, which I had never been diagnosed with before. Instead of explaining the condition in detail, Clifford directed me to Google to read about it myself. This was disappointing, considering I sought professional guidance, not internet self-diagnosis. Nevertheless, I left the appointment with a prescription for Arazlo and a glimmer of hope for progress, despite the unnecessary comment about its cost (to which I assured him cost wasn’t an issue for me). Unfortunately, my second visit with Clifford Amos completely shattered any remaining confidence I had in him. Upon entering the room, he immediately asked me, “Why are you here?” – a question I found ridiculous, given that my chart should have provided this information. After explaining that I wanted to develop a comprehensive treatment plan to complement my prescribed medication, he again turned to Google to recommend a fade cream (Nadinola) for hyperpigmentation. When I inquired further about the keratosis pilaris, he reluctantly examined my back, brushed his hand over it dismissively, and stated, “There’s nothing that can be done. This is just how you’re made. It’s in your DNA.” His tone and lack of effort in exploring potential options felt not only dismissive but also demeaning. To make matters worse, he left without providing any follow-up instructions or a timeline for a next appointment. It was only thanks to the assistant – who clearly works more closely with Julie (another dermatologist at the practice) – that I regained a sense of hope. She understood my frustration immediately and scheduled me with Julie for future appointments, describing her as compassionate and supportive. The assistant even went out of her way to recommend products like La Roche-Posay Effaclar and Mela B3 Serum, sharing her own experience with acne and hyperpigmentation. She showed more care and empathy in five minutes than Clifford did across two visits. I found Clifford’s approach to patient care dismissive, insensitive, and lacking the professionalism one should expect in a medical setting. His reluctance to provide thorough explanations or explore effective treatment options was deeply disappointing. Additionally, his condescending remarks about cost and his dismissive attitude toward me as a person of color left a sour impression. I felt judged and undervalued as a patient, as though my concerns were not worthy of his time or expertise. If you are seeking a dermatologist who genuinely listens, educates, and provides comprehensive care, I would strongly advise avoiding Clifford Amos. Instead, I look forward to working with Julie, who, based on the assistant’s recommendation, seems to be everything Clifford is not – compassionate, supportive, and dedicated to her patients. Clear skin and a better experience await, just not with Clifford Amos.
Staff, PA's and Dr's are great. Very efficient, short wait times but they still take their time with you.
I was seen by Clifford Amos, who was very dismissive about my concern and didn’t explain many things he should have about the prescription he ordered. He basically said, “Good luck, see you in a week.” I read his Plan/Counseling in my portal, and there were notes he never discussed with me that he claims to have. I called the office this morning because I had a prescription question and never received a callback. I am not going back!
