Dr. Maragh is a butcher. She left me with horrific, dark pigmented, and deep scarring. Not to mention, was extremely rushed and conducted an incredibly painful experience. I would not trust her anywhere near my skin again and I am so upset that someone damaged me this way. I went to a PA, Gillian Athey, who completed the rest of my treatment. She left no scarring and was tremendously more caring and informative than Dr. Maragh. Dr. Maragh clearly does not care about her patients, or the life impacts she leaves on their skin. Biggest regret of my life.
Went in for a new issue and a mole check, provider came in, took biopsies, and left the room in under 5 minutes. My main issue was not addressed, and instead I received refills for unrelated meds despite explaining that I no longer needed nor wanted them. Appointment was rushed with no space given for questions or concerns. Billed over 200 after insurance for a 5 minute face to face and unaddressed issues.
I’m honestly beyond disappointed and frustrated with the service I’ve received from this provider and her office. I absolutely love Dr. Maragh, and as an African American woman who has dealt with multiple skincare conditions, I’ve always valued having an African American doctor who truly understands my needs. That’s why this entire situation is so heartbreaking. I’ve been trying to see Dr. Maragh for months now, but the earliest appointment I could get is six months out. The office keeps pushing me to see a PA instead, but I don’t want to see a PA, that's not my doctor. And now, after waiting for five months, with my appointment finally coming up next month in November, I’ve run out of my maintenance shampoo and need a refill. To my disbelief, the office tells me that I have to either come in or set up a telehealth visit with the PA just to get a refill! They want me to pay a copay just to get shampoo that I already had prescribed! This feels like nothing short of insurance fraud. Why should I have to pay again when I’m already scheduled to see my doctor next month? All I need is enough shampoo to make it until my appointment. This whole situation has left me feeling unheard, uncared for, and completely disillusioned. I expected so much more, especially from someone I trusted with my skin health.
I was desperate for care with a skin situation on my face and did not have time to research this clinic before making an appointment. I just needed something close to home. I entered a room and Priscilla came in, took one look at me, did not touch me, and said I needed to go the ER. We left immediately and I ended up requiring a three night stay at Shady Grove. On my way out of the clinic I asked if I needed to do anything and was told “You’re good.” I assumed I would not be charged. I had a high school teacher tell me once when you assume you make an ASS out of U and ME. :) I forgot that lesson that day. My insurance company was billed over $600 and my co-insurance was over $100. I sent nice emails and made a nice phone call. Tried to be mature, respectful, and professional. In the end I was told “After speaking with Priscilla in regards to your appt on May 1st it was still considered an office visit as there was a diagnosis that was inputted, so the balance you received is accurate. I do apologize , in order for the balance to be adjusted, your visit would have to be amended , but because Priscilla saw you and evaluated you, the visit cannot be adjusted.” I paid the bill and disputed the charge. Soon after I received a new bill for the same amount. I paid and disputed. I just received another bill for the same amount with the message, “Your medical bill from your visit to Advanced Dermatology is now at risk of being escalated to our collections agency.” Paid it again and will not dispute this time to avoid my credit score being lowered. I am serving my country overseas and do not have the time or energy to deal with it. I guess I got a learning experience out of it and the clinic got $600 for a two-minute conversation. Maragh Dermatology and Advanced Dermatology puts profits over people. Oh, and to the clinic: please don’t respond to this review with your copy paste “we apologize and your issue has been escalated…” Thank you in advance for sparing us the theatrics.
