I had an appointment for my child yesterday and due to an accident on the freeway between myself and the destination I knew I was going to be late for the appointment. I dutifully called to the office to notify them of that and was told that it should be fine, they would contact the receptionist at the office we were heading to to let them know and they have a 15 minute grace period so it shouldn't be an issue. I got to the office as quickly as I safely could and made it at 4:35 which was 15 minutes after the appointment but still within the stated grace period. When I got to the desk the receptionist informed me that the doctor had already left for the day and there was no one there to see my son despite my best efforts to get him there including notifying them I would be late and I was on the way. Considering the fact that the receptionist was more than prepared to tell me too bad it shows me that they never had any intention to see my son. This practice is a disgrace. This isn't the first issue I have had with them giving incorrect information with their office staff but it will certainly be the last.
Excellent customer service and care. Every person I have come across is knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. Trusting Grand Rapids Opthalmology with my vision has been one of the best decisions I have made.
This office is a disgrace. This has literally been the worst experience I have had with an office. My husband and I were billed for over $1000 for contacts required for my husband’s eye disease which we were assured would be covered due to medical necessity. I received the bill and immediately called the office. I worked with our vision insurance and was told after months and months of issues that GRO never even billed them for the contacts and that if GRO sent them the claim it would be covered! I received an apology from GRO and an updated bill for $125. Great, right? Nope! Next month GRO turns around and sends us a bill for over $1000 and a letter saying that they’re going to send us to collections. I called GRO to try to talk this out and see why we received corrected bill for $125 and an apology from them for everything they put us through only to be reverted back to the over $1000 bill. We received ZERO communication on why it changed back. They did not answer the phone and so I was forced to leave a voicemail. I still have not received a call back and it’s been over a month. I’ve spent 10 hours on the phone for this bill between our insurance, GRO, and the agency they use to collect payment. GRO does not seem to know what they are doing. They have either inaccurate and confusing communication with their patients or NO communication at all.
I am always impressed with the friendliness of the employees at GR Ophthalmology. We were especially pleased with Veronica who checked us in!. So helpful!
The staff is absolutely amazing. I had an issue getting my (soon to be replaced) Primary Care physician to respond to a very time sensitive request for a release for this surgery I’m having very shortly. While we were taking pictures of my eye it came up in conversation. By the time I returned home, about three hours, my Dr had magically been able to squeeze me in and had enough time to leave a message. I feel the only reason that occurred was due to the staff here advocating and saying they other folks need to do better for everyone. I wish I could give them more than five stars based on my two visits so far.
