Dr. Rachel R. Kushner Dermatology and MOHS surgery

I was a patient of Dr. Kushner’s and have had a few appointments. Every appointment there was a wait however yesterday was my breaking point. As if you’re not stressed enough when a biopsy comes back atypical and you have to return to have it dug out further then you open the door to the packed waiting room to check in and see that it is completely full with not a seat to even sit for your undoubtedly 1-2 hour wait for your “scheduled” appointment. What I don’t understand is why they call and text to remind you of your appointment but they can’t call and or text to say hey the doctor is running two hours late so you can adjust your schedule accordingly. Like myself I’m sure other patients leave work early or even take the whole day off for their appointment. Obviously they don’t care because once you’re there, they figure you will stay and wait. NOT me, I said my peace that this is unacceptable and I walked out and found a new Dermatologist.

Staff was very nice & respectful, however this is not a well run operation. I went for 3 appointments and all took me at least nearly an hour to be seen. I went to a new dermatologist who I will keep confidential and ironically one of their new patients left this dermatologist as well because the wait time is unreasonable for an established appointment time.

This doctor Rachel is one of the most efficient and great experiences I've ever had when it comes to specialists I visited. I may be hyperbolic sounding here but I'm sincere as she has been incredibly both informative, patient and on time with all her appointments. Initially I had signed up for a patch test because I believed I had an allergy problem. Not only did I not require such a test as my issue she discovered was severe eczema, she knew I wasn't covered for this by my insurance and she openly told me thus off the bat, she gave me not only the right prescription for treating me but she also told me she didn't want me to just blindly take it for too long as she understood there were side effects to that, and she of her own volition up front from the beginning informed me about safe alternatives to take in the long term once that first prescription was used up. She kept me informed about who was going to send the prescription, how to reach them, and how to reach her if they were to charge me more than as she expected them to charge me. Unbelievably kind and to the point, and not condescending or patronizing when one shows any ignorance of one's own conditions. I would recommend her to any new patient, or those who are uncomfortable visiting doctors in general.

Visited Dr last week. Saw PA for 3 minutes tops. Paid $75 co-pay. PA said see me in a week for follow up. I go back today and office trying to get another $75 co-pay out of me so they can double bill my insurance company. I just left. They losing a client due to greed. I recommend finding a different dermatologist if you need one.

My office visit was great and Dr Kushner was friendly and amazing, the only problem I have is the wait. My appt was at 415 & was called into the room a few minutes after and saw the woman who got my info then I didn’t see the Dr until about 5. Every time I go the wait is insane, it’s hard because all the staff including Dr Kushner are so nice so I’d prefer not to switch but they need to work on not having patients wait so long.
