The Wagner family is extremely grateful for our mother’s treatment both in the icu and afterward. As it became apparent that our mother Bess Wagner’s health was deteriorating quickly she was moved to another room where she was kept alive until the family was able to assemble. The care and compassion of the doctors nurses and staff that allowed our family be present as our mother passed peacefully and painlessly cannot be overstated. Again as a family we are grateful that our mother was allowed a quality in death that mirrored the quality of her 90 years of life. Thank you from the entire Wagner family
I had to undergo emergency gallbladder surgery, and the care I received was exceptional. The GI team quickly consulted the on-call surgeon, Dr. Hill. Within about an hour, Dr. Hill performed the surgery. I stayed in the hospital an extra night to manage my pain, and throughout my time there, Dr. Hill was compassionate and empathetic, making me feel truly cared for. The nursing staff was wonderful, too. After a week of challenges, I’m grateful for how swiftly and effectively this hospital took care of me.
I took my wife to this facility's emergency room after the local urgent care reported an extended wait time. She was in significant respiratory distress. She was triaged within 15 min of arrival and was in a private examination room within an hour. The nurse Denice and PA Matt were exemplary in their professionalism. They explained all testing and treatment. They monitored her closely until she was stable enough for discharge. They followed up with phone/text messages and answered all of our questions to our full satisfaction. My wife is a retired RN and stated this is some of the best patient care she has received ever. We highly recommend Adirondack Health Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
While my experiences with ADK Hospital have been largely positive, my visit to their ER was anything but. It is unlikely that I will ever trust emergency room care in the future unless I believe I am actively dying within the hour. I visited the ADK ER on 7/25 after 15+ years of symptoms that remained unresolved with regular family physician care but which were increasing and pointing to a serious nutritional deficiency. The key symptoms were: heart palpitations, pins and needles neuropathy, systemic pain, cognitive impairement including memory loss and trouble concentrating. The heart palpitations were a new symtom but also the one that caused me to suspect a nutritional deficit as the issue. These are alarming symtoms that I had been unssucessful in getting a diagnosis for. A pleasant woman took my information and I was in an exam area in 5 minutes or less. There however, I was promptly marked as an irresonsible time waster of their busy ER (remember I was in an exam space within 5 minutes and only one other person was present in the waiting area). The nurse cut me short while I was describing my symtoms. Next the doctor came in and told me nutritional deficits were not an emergency and that she would not provide me with care for that. Finally, the nurse suggested I go back to my provider and ask for compassion??? I left ADK Health and cried the entire way home- the final failure in a long series of failures to identify an easily treatable, and pretty common condition. I would suggest that ADK ER look inward where compassion is concerned. Since this visit I have a new family office and a confirmed diagnosis of iron deficient anemia with a possible B12 implication. 15+ years of waiting could have been laid to rest at ADK ER but instead I was left by this visit feeling worthless. This ER visit warrants ZERO stars since I was literally refused care.
Worst customer service in the world. Arrive 10 minutes late due to weather, and I was told by a woman I had to reschedule my appointment. I had gotten access to a car to get to the appointment. I drove almost 30 miles to get to the appointment. Then I was told by a very rude receptionist at the Lake Placid center that since I was late I had to reschedule. I am thinking of going to a different facility in the future their rudeness has put me off
