I highly recommend Dermatology Care Indian Trail office. Provider Ms. Starnes and her team are wonderful, so compassionate and caring, and outstanding caregivers! I drive a 7 hour round trip from myrtle beach to see her! This has been the best Healthcare experience I have ever had! Go to the Indian trail office, they will take good care of you! They are the ABSOLUTE BEST in all of the Carolinas!
FYI, this office is hard to spot behind a very large rose bush and my Waze GPS led me to the wrong location first. It was my first visit with this doctor, so I should’ve been scheduled for at least 30 minutes. I was a few minutes outside my scheduled time because of my trouble finding the office. (15 minute window) The doctor would not see me, due to having a surgery scheduled. I’m wondering how much time she would have spent with me anyway. Sounds like a dodged a bullet with this particular doctor (LaRocque)! Moral of the story, if you want to schedule with Dr LaRocque or this office make SURE YOU CAN FIND IT because there are no allowances made. PS front staff was nice and helped me to reschedule with a different Dr and office location.
I strongly advise against using Dermatology Care of Charlotte based on my experience and the numerous reviews echoing my experience. I was referred to DCC by my primary care doctor for a skin cancer screening in 2023. The screening itself went smoothly, the doctor was pleasant and acted knowledgeable. She recommended a prescription for a dry skin condition I did not go there to address and froze off a handful of non-cancerous abnormalities. All of this was done under the advice of the doctor who specifically stated it would all be covered by insurance and that I would only have to pay for the copay and prescription. A month later, the pills I was prescribed did absolutely nothing and the abnormalities that were frozen off, all grew back. When I arrived at my follow-up appointment, I was asked to cover an additional balance for “what insurance did not cover”. This surprised me, the appointment that should have cost $60 was now double that cost and it doesn’t end there. The insurance company also charged me an additional fee for the treatments that were denied coverage even though the doctor assured me it was covered. I saw the writing on the wall with this company and immediately cancelled the follow-up appointment. Fast forward to about a year later, I had since moved out of state and received another bill from the insurance company stating that they made an error and needed to charge me for the balance of this visit that “was fully covered”. I reluctantly paid that bill and figured I was done with this mess of a situation. That is until another two months pass, and I get a call from a collector stating that I owe DCC $17 because they improperly billed me for the services and the insurance company denied the coverage. They claim they attempted to send letters that were returned to my old address and this was reason enough to send me to collections rather than call or email me like a normal company would do. When I called DCC to speak to the billing person, she was immediately rude, defensive and disrespectful. She acknowledged no wrongdoing in the way they handled this petty $17 discrepancy created by their laps in judgement and knowledge of what is and is not covered by insurance she abruptly hung up the phone on me after berating me and commenting that I was uneducated and did not know what I was talking about. I called the office back the next day to speak with the owner, she “was not available” and I was sent directly to her voicemail. I left a message, never received a call back so I called again and “not available” left a second voicemail, again, no call back. Now I have a blemish on my perfect credit due to DCC’s lack of understanding of insurance coverages, deceitful billing practices and inability to take basic steps to locate someone who has moved. This office needs to be investigated for potential insurance fraud. They are clearly doing somethings here that are not by the book and trying to take advantage of people.
Great experience from start to finish! I was running late and they were accommodating and understanding about the situation. The front desk greeted me with a big smile and warm welcome once I arrived, short wait time and the PA I saw was extremely knowledgeable and caring. She spent alot of time explaining my condition and options available to me. Looking forward to my next appointment with Ms Jackie Leyer!!
Only went once, as a new patient, and saw the provider for 2 minutes. I waited past my appointment time before being seated in a room. They collected my $75 co-pay prior to being seated; I should’ve known then that it was only about the money. I had a follow up scheduled for 2 months and they wanted me to pay another $75. I’m not sure what kind of billing is being done here, but I’ve worked in healthcare for several years now & NEVER bill for a follow up, as it’s a continuation of your first appointment. First & last appointment… I should’ve read the reviews prior to scheduling.
