The Grand Resort

In this day of such poor attitudes and the service associated with the attitude, it was refreshing to have the exemplary service and pleasant attitudes we experienced. Everyone we dealt with in the all facets of the operation were pleasant, enjoyable to interact with and made the stay fun. The multitude of choices of activities that are available are remarkable. We wish we had taken the time to explore all of the services available to us before we arrived. I doubt we saw 1/10 of what is available. Dining here exceeds the experiences we have enjoyed at many Micheline and Zagat rated restaurants. Gatsby blew us away. The service from Mackenzie, the quality of everything we ordered, and the layers of flavor were outstanding. Thank You for the management that did all of the background work to make our stay as pleasant as it was. We will definitely be returning.

Went for a girls weekend. We had the presidential suit. We were told it was the entire top floor, not true. They lost my name for checkin. The room claimed to sleep 6 but only had 4 robes. When I called for 2 more the lady said that’s very unlikely then hung up. We had dinner reservations in the wine lounge. Nothing was set up and our server knew nothing about it. The manager, Roger came to speak with us and never once apologized and he’s the one who took the reservation. We were supposed to have the entire side booked which also didn’t happen. The reservation was made a month ago! There were young kids that looked like teenagers all around. Not what I was expecting from a wine cellar lounge. The Roman Bath was more like a loud drunken pool party. They had hotel security by the pool trying to break up some type of disturbance. We waited until it was later to try the bath. There were no towels. The front desks reply was, welcome to Saturday. Again with no apology. no one cleaned up the beer cans and drink cups around the pool. The pool area was a mess with cups, trash, and dirty towels and this was all left from earlier that day. For a luxury resort it’s pretty sad they can’t keep the place clean. We asked for a cart and help with our luggage at checkout which no one arrived to help. We had another room booked as well which smelled like bleach, weed, and paint. For as much money as we spent, it sure felt like we were treated poorly.

This place lived up to my expectations. We had excellent services at the spa. Our room was a jacuzzi suite and very spacious. Pet friendly huge plus. We ate at the Chop House, which isn't part of the hotel, but it was excellent. Breakfast at the hotel was good though. Didn't use the indoor pool, but it looked nice. Too cold for outdoor pool. I would certainly stay here again.

My family and I went up for the day last week. We used the spa and ate at Gatsby’s. The spa was decent, it was packed and shoulder to shoulder people in the locker room. During my facial, the chemical peel burned my face. Two days later, it’s dry as leather and still red and splotchy. I brought this up to two different spa employees, however no reimbursement or any compensation was offered. Then we went to dinner at Gatsby’s, everything was fine until later that night when my daughter and I (who shared the Cajun gnocchi) had the WORST food poisoning of our entire lives. Seriously, days later and we are still struggling to get over it. This place needs some serious work, save your money!!!

We had an amazing anniversary here! The entire day was great. We started off rocky (cause of a personal mistake) but the staff found a way around it for us. The spa is a great place to relax and they are very caring with any extra and different needs. Extremely attentive staff. The rooms are very well set up for a night stay. They may seem dated but I didn't come here to stay in a room, I came for the pools and the bars and those were all amazing. The night staff was very informative though they may lack the charm from the day crew they make sure you well taken care of and safe. When your here you forget you are still in Ohio. Also the roman pool is open 24/7!!
