I reached out to this office for a preventative skin check and confirmed with my insurance beforehand that preventative care would be fully covered. They assured me it wouldn’t count against my deductible. The appointment itself was quick—just a five-minute skin check. Months later, I received a bill for over $100. Confused, I called my insurance, who told me the office had billed it as general care instead of preventative. When I contacted Advanced Dermatology, they admitted they don’t have a preventative care billing code, so they automatically charge it as general care. This is unacceptable. They billed me incorrectly for a service I did not receive. When I asked if they could correct it, they refused, saying they simply "don't have the code." They could have contacted provider services through my insurance for a solution, but they didn’t bother. To make matters worse, when I requested a supervisor from the billing department to reach out, no one ever did. At every turn, I was met with "there's nothing we can do." If you're considering this place for a preventative skin check—don't.
Alexis and amber were so sweet, they felt older sisters giving me steps for my face and more. The receptionist was also nice to give me the number and location to call to the other locations. So sad to hear that this location is closing soon and I hope I get to see them soon because they always make me feel welcomed walking in and explaining in clear terms how skincare works.
I don't often leave reviews like this, but I've had one of the worst, most protracted experiences with Advanced Dermatology and felt it necessary to let people know. Over the last 5 weeks, I have had 5 appointments cancelled, culminating in today's appointment, for which I showed up to a locked door, because someone forgot to call and tell me it had been cancelled. I have a painful cyst that needs treatment, but in more than a month, I've only been able to get in once for a brief 5 minute appointment and treatment that didn't end up working. The front desk staff seems perpetually confused, and the doctors and providers keep calling out at the last minute, leaving me without any alternatives (unless I want to get an Uber 30 minutes out of the city). I don't expect people to come to work sick or for an office to run like clockwork. I can't remember the last time I had a doctor whose office wasn't a little dysfunctional. However, this has been beyond the pale. Continuously wasting my time, cancelling at the last minute, calling with little or no time to spare, and then gaslighting me saying I was called to cancel when I was not. I highly recommend finding another provider, anywhere in the region if possible. No one is at the wheel here.
Although I typically refrain from writing reviews, I must express my utmost admiration for Alexis Turbin. She stands as an exceptional dermatologist, embodying a profound commitment to her patients and possessing an exceptionally warm and engaging personality.
I hope I never have another skin issue of course, but if I do, I will definitely be returning to this location. The staff were able to schedule me the same week. The wait was a bit longer than expected (~45 minutes behind schedule), but the PA-C and her assistant were so incredibly friendly and attentive that the wait didn't bother me. I got my prescription and treatment plan that same day. Highly recommend!
