UT University Plastic Surgeons - Memphis Plastic Surgery

Yesterday, I had a good follow-up appointment. I was very pleased with the new structure of the front office staff. Normally, I do not like calling names, but in this case, it is necessary to give credit where credit is due. Dr. Sonia Alvarez is an outstanding plastic surgeon. She is very knowledgeable, professional, and caring. My first encounter with her was the result of a personal battle with breast cancer and the development of capsular contracture after undergoing reconstruction surgery by a previous plastic surgeon. I appreciated her listening to my concerns and answering any questions I had. In addition, she provided me with her expert advice on how to achieve the desired outcome. She places a great deal of importance on the well-being of her patients, in my opinion. It would be easy for me to go on and on about her, but I will leave that for others to experience. My gratitude goes out to her for helping me to regain confidence in my appearance. My reconstructive surgery has now been completed for nearly eight months, and I could not have chosen a better surgeon to take this life-changing journey with. In the event that you require breast reconstruction, I highly recommend Dr. Alvarez. I am confident that you will not be disappointed!!!!!

Update 5/21/2021: I have received a bill from this plastic surgery group for something I had already payed for (the consultation). Its sad to say that they are billing their people twice and it shows that they do not do their proceedings correctly and that reflects on other aspects. 09/23/2020: I only did a consultation. I self pay for my consultation $150.00 on the day I made the apt. These are pictures of their lobby.

Dr. Alvarez is amazing! I recently had a breast reduction (3 days ago) and I'm extremely pleased with the results so far. Also, the staff at Women's Baptist Hospital was above par...I had a full female crew! They made me feel relaxed with their confidence and experience...I'm a worrier by nature, so this was a huge success for me. If you're on the fence about having her work on your body...DON'T! She doesn't disappoint!

The staff in this office have horrible communication skills. My wife has been given the run around repeatedly since Feb 2022. I never get to speak to anyone who actually knows what is going on and honestly I don't believe my messages are passed on, as I have been told I will get a call back repeatedly and have yet to receive one after multiple inquiries. She was told her procedure was submitted to insurance a week ago by Amanda and to call her back if I have heard nothing in a week. I called my insurance first to check because I've been given the repeated runaround by this office and there has been nothing submitted at all. I called the University Plastic Surgeons office and was given the runaround and "she will call you back" once again. Nothing but crickets, after she had a second consultation with Dr. Konofaos, and his assistant in August 2022 (the first in Feb 2022) and was told yes he would complete my surgery and the process was going to be expedited well over a month ago now.

The office staff is down right rude and extremely unprofessional. If I could go anywhere else I would. But I can’t. So I’m stuck in this cat and mouse game just to be able to fix my bi lateral mastectomy. I hope the scheduler never has to understand the pain and mental strain this has left me with.
