Westlake Dermatology & Cosmetic Surgery - Far West

I had one of the worst experiences at Westlake Dermatology. From the beginning, I made sure to be very clear and asked about every step of the process. I went in for an annual checkup, and during the appointment, I mentioned pain in my toes. The doctor treated it with a spray, and I specifically asked if there would be any extra charge for that. She assured me twice that it was included in my visit and that there would be no additional cost. Additionally, I had another procedure, and the doctor told me it would be a one-time charge of $100 with no further charges. However, I later received a bill for the toe treatment despite being told there would be no charge and an additional charge for the procedure that was supposed to be a flat $100. After multiple phone calls and back-and-forth conversations with the office manager, I encountered more issues. They even filed my name incorrectly, completely changing it, and later claimed it was just a misspelling!!! This mistake, along with the billing issues, made me question the professionalism of this office. What made this experience even worse was their response to my concerns. Every time I tried to clarify the charges or point out their mistakes, I was repeatedly told, "You do not understand." Instead of taking responsibility, they dismissed my valid concerns as if I couldn’t comprehend basic billing. Due to their unprofessional and dismissive attitude, I asked to continue communication only through email. Eventually, I received an email stating that they would honor the $100 charge as promised and waive the additional fee for the toe treatment. However, despite their earlier assurances, I was still billed an unexpected $147 for the other procedure. This experience made it clear that verbal assurances mean nothing if they are not documented. Unfortunately, this office did not honor their word, and at the end of the day, the charges appeared on my bill regardless of what was promised. I strongly recommend getting everything in writing or even recording conversations to avoid unexpected charges and blame-shifting. A medical office should prioritize honesty and professionalism, but unfortunately, that was not my experience here.

I started at Westlake Dermatology about a year ago, after my former dermatologist moved away. I usually see Dr. Reed for my skin checks but have also seen Dr. LaCour for a rosacea consult while Dr. Reed was on maternity leave, and Dr. C (Dr. Chodkiewicz from the Cedar Park location) for my wide excision when he did a Far West location day. Dr. Reed had a keen eye at my most recent check and decided to biopsy a spot that I would never have guessed would turn out to be skin cancer. All the staff I have encountered is kind, friendly, efficient, and competent. I highly recommend any of the doctors here!

Love Dr Reed so much that I was willing to follow her from a super nearby location to 40min drive away. In checking out, Elsie was very helpful in answering all my questions and helping me update my product care for home use. Love Westlake Dermatology!

Westland Dermatology has very professional staff. Ayreis, Carly, Elsie, Val & Dr Geddes are amazing. They all made me feel very comfortable and answered all my questions. Highly recommend them.
