April Thompson should not be a nurse practitioner or in the medical field. She provided the worst experience I have ever had with a medical professional; previously, I had never had a bad experience. I needed a new primary care doctor. My first time seeing April Thompson, APRN, FNP-C, at HealthPoint-Madisonville, TX. I came in for a first visit. They called me to the back, so the nurse took my vitals and asked what medications I take. Afterwards, she asked if I needed to see the doctor, April Thompson. I said, 'Yes, I need to see the doctor/nurse practitioner. It's my first time here, and I would like to meet her.' That was the first red flag🚩. April Thompson, the nurse practitioner, finally enters the room, sits down, and looks at me crazily. She doesn't say hello or anything for a few seconds, red flag🚩, and then asks me about the medications I take; I told her my medications. After that, I asked her, since I'm a new patient, I know you like to do bloodwork. Then she replied, 'Oh, if you want to get blood work, I will send some labs in for you, and you can get blood work done here.' If I won't to get blood work done? That's another red flag🚩. Before ending the visit, she tells me to just come back and see her when I need her, another red flag🚩. Usually, doctors tell you to come back in six months, not her. After seeing all those red flag🚩 , I was not about to let those people at that clinic stick me with a needle. So I went to the Laboratory Services in Bryan, TX to get my blood work done. I had Bryan, TX Laboratory Services fax over the results twice, no returned calls HealthPoint, and for three days I called HealthPoint in Madisonville, Texas, in a row, and they claimed they couldn't find the results or if they had been faxed over. These people are a pure mess and unprofessional, but the receptionist was really nice. This is the worst nurse practitioner I have ever had. This woman needs to be fired! Very unprofessional! _D.Y.
Had 3pm appt they got me right in they did a strep test Dr. Thompson came in asked me what was wrong I told her she took care of me when the nurses were finished she came back in to make sure I was satisfied I was very happy with my treatment by all involved.
We waited an hour and a half for a well check with questions about my sons health and potential diagnosis. FNP April Thompson barely spoke to us for 1 minute before trying to push us out the door because it was closing time. The fact that I asked a question made her irritated as she let her computer die so she had to go out to the nurses station to ask someone to pull something up for her. Then still trying to push us out the door I asked about another concern of mine and she didn't have any knowledge about the issue. Or any of the issues I asked about today. I was very disappointed as they didn't bother to actually look at him. A primary care doctor or family nurse practitioner should have a general or superficial knowledge base about common health issues and concerns, yet she couldn't speak on anything at all. Just took his vitals and wanted to send us on our way. I've been with Health Point since he was born and our GP left the company recently. Now we will be too.
This place is great. They’ve always been alright. I used to not have any patience to wait on them to answer the phone. I had an issue with one of the doctors and her nurse but ever since they moved locations it’s been great. Wait times on phone and in lobby are much shorter your in and out like that. You’re taken seriously and treated with respect and understanding. Much more efficient and caring service.
Dr v is the best doctor she treats her patients very good I'm going to miss her at this location the staff is very friendly
