After all this, my hair is now falling out of my head: Update 2: the re-dye was even darker than the initial color and while it was a lovely tone and absolutely was not what I asked for. It took everything I had not to burst into tears right then and there, I just smiled and made it through the rest of the appointment. Having the other stylists reassure me that it was a beautiful color did not help. My the natural pigments of my hair are ruined from all of the dye, as you can see in the photos it was beautiful. I have an appointment with a different salon to try to fix it, but I feel like I’m going crazy and am losing time and spending more money. I should never have gone back and have blocked their numbers. Update 1: (3 stars) the salon owner has been working with me to fix the color at no charge, she has been very lovely and accommodating. Color update photo added - still very red but a lighter shade. We’ll be adding a cooler toner today to get back to a more natural color. And yes, I know the red is lovely and I’ve had a lot of compliments. However, it’s not what I wanted. Updates to come. Original: (2 stars) I had a previously come to the salon before I moved to Boston and had had a good experience. I just moved back to the area, and have been looking for a new stylist. I was optimistic about coming back however, as soon as I walked through the door, I could tell some things had changed. My stylist was nice enough, but very chatty and clearly very distracted. My request was for shoulder length hair dyed back to my natural color. We were taking off about 10 inches. My hair is very healthy and had only ever bleached baby lights without toning. My stylist had suggested a five for color matching, but I requested a six we agreed to add a little bit of warmth. I was a little waffly on exactly how long I wanted my hair, but ultimately decided right off at the shoulders. As you can see, the haircut is significantly shorter than I requested, this is after I conversation about how it is easier to take more off later than to add back on. On a longer hairstyle an inch doesn’t really matter, but with shorter hairstyles, it makes a huge difference. Rather than skimming my shoulders, it hits just below my chin. I don’t really have the kind of jawline you want to accentuate. While blow drying my hair my stylist commented how it was a beautiful level 5. I waited a few minutes and then asked her if it was a level five or a level six to which she said emphatically that it was a level six. I wanted to opt for lighter as it would look more natural as my hair grew out. It’s hard to tell from the photos, but the areas that were previously bleached are now darker than the rest of my hair. Finally, I asked her not to blow dry my hair to curl under to avoid looking like Lord Farquhar but she spent no time, focusing on volumizing the roots, and all of the time with the blow dryer blood brush curling the ends under despite multiple requests that she changed the direction in which she was blow drying. By the end of my appointment, I was just smiling and agreeing to get out of there as soon as possible. My boyfriend and I had a good laugh when he got home from work. The real kicker is that it took my stylist 3.5 hours to cut my hair straight across and do a single color process. My stylist in Boston was able to do delicate foil baby lights, and long round layers with some face framing pieces on my mid back length hair in less than that amount of time… and she would often have two clients going at the same time. I’m so happy to be free of my long hair, and I know that it will grow to the length that I wanted it to be. I will try lightening the color at home with some clarifying shampoo and hope that it doesn’t look ridiculous as it grows out. I will never be coming back here. The whole ordeal cost me 3.5 hours of my life, ~$169 and $35 tip (because I’m a people pleaser.)

I recently moved to the WRJ area and have been wanting to get my hair done but wasn’t sure on where to go as I’m fussy about my blonde coloring and eyebrows. I walked past Rio Blanco and thought why not give them a try. I am so glad I did now!! I received services from Marcia and Megan. Marcia did blonde partial highlights, she was friendly, professional and so quick. She made my blonde super clean and fresh. My hair color looks amazing, and I feel like a whole new person. The space was clean and friendly. Megan did a brow lamination annd wax and talked me through the process being sure to check in and ask how I liked them, she was super personable and professional. They look amazing and she was sure to do them exactly how I imagined making sure I was happy with my brows before walking out. All the staff were welcoming and the services provided were top notch. I will definitely be making my next appointment with them again and would recommend Rio Blanco as a one stop beauty shop with so many services offered!

Barber Mike was very professional and friendly. We had a great conversation while he cut my hair. The vibe of the whole establishment was very nice. I didnt mind paying a bit more than my normal price for a haircut because of the extra care. He was great with prepping my hair for donation to locks of love. Excellent job with the line up on the back with the razor and the warm towel to clean up was like the cherry on top. 👌

Mike is the best. Helped me get out of my boring haircut comfort zone. I'm feeling extra confident with my new style.

Received an exemplary haircut/wash at a very modest rate from one of their youngest hairdressers. Nothing short of professional. Do not hesitate to make an appointment here, it surely beats the snipped ears and hackjob that Someothercuts have to offer. Definitely will be returning! Rio Blanco Salon is A++ in my book.
