Carilion Clinic Dermatology & Mohs Surgery - Franklin Rd

I am seeing PA Lauren Lane at Carilion Clinic Dermatology. She is very knowledgeable and thorough. She is careful and does a great job making sure I don’t have any problems. If she suspects something, or if I have concerns, she addresses the situation thoroughly and professionally. I am grateful to have her on my Care Team. Everyone in the office is very friendly and helpful.

Everyone in the office seemed nice and they do a pretty good job of keeping notes on the patient for reference. You have to go through the prompts to be connected. It asks for my information but it’s entered incorrectly in their system so I just wait until someone picks up. After waiting on hold for a bit they do connect you to a nurse if that’s who you need to speak to. In clinic I saw Dr. Johnson. Some lady was walking by the exam room and asked if everything was ok which, was strange. I kept pointing out abnormalities on my skin of which he said he didn’t see. The doctor diagnosed me and started me on a medication.that I began having uncomfortable side effects from. I called the office and was told to stop it. There was no alternative to this plan except schedule an appointment. The earliest I was able to see him was weeks in advance. Meanwhile, my symptoms persisted and it was torture. I kept calling asking if there was an alternative medication I could use until I could be seen again. I left multiple messages with no response. It got to the point where I needed to call the emergency line. The doctor on call told me to stop the treatment and that Dr. Johnson would be calling with instructions on what to do next. I heard nothing from him.. I decided to see my old dermatologist because I didn’t feel like this was any way to treat a patient.

Best customer service and doctor visit all around in over 10 years. Super friendly and helpful front desk check in people. The doctors listen and work with you. I'm recommend to anyone needing dermatologist help to come here. All star review.

So I call three times and first the phone hangs up on me twice, then I get put on hold for 6 minutes, then when I finally get a human on the phone I get put on hold again- all in the first hour of the morning, people aren't even off work so how is it THAT busy? I explain the problem, and I have already been to the clinic before and they say" sorry you need a referral" so I tell them, I promise my doctor doesn't treat this, it takes weeks to get an appointment with him, then it will take more weeks to get an appointment with you- and all this could be avoided if you just listened when people had skin concerns". This is why doctors are not catching things that hurt people- because policies designed to slow down the patient being seen and treated just make more $$$$. If you want timely care, go elsewhere. These people are just out to get your money, not treat your condition. What a sorry excuse for a bunch of doctors.

Update: Two professionals above the nursing level have left this facility in a year. Don't know why; maybe a coincidence. But interesting... Never again...the absolute worst. Update: Already tried Patient Advocacy; went through the entire process. I truly did not have an advocate. It should be named Carilion Advocacy, because there certainly was no advocate for me. Did not help at all. Still...the worst.
