I would recommend going elsewhere. Nurse Pracitioner Howell is a lazy and incompetent medical provider. I have been here twice for Urgent Care now, and unfortunately both times I have had him--so I can't attest to how the rest of the providers are. He does not take time to listen to or understand the patient's presenting complaint, he does not do a thorough examination or assessment, and both visits he maybe spoke five sentences to me for the entire appointment. Most recently, he failed to thoroughly evaluate and properly diagnose me; I ended up having to go the ER the next day (Pullman Regional's ER was great, and I am doing much better now).
Dr. Simpson recently retired from Palouse medical. He was the best doctor ever. He was a friend/trusted doctor (I didn’t know him other than Doctor appointments annually for 25+ years). He would never rush you, take you in his office before and/or after just to chat and listen to your concerns. It’s very rare to find his kind of love for people and commitment to your work. Thanks Doc!
Office manager, SHIRLEY is incredibly rude and argumentative. I had an issue where one of the office staff decided to cancel my appointment for no reason at all and not tell me! They then gave my appointment to someone else. When speaking with Shirley about this, she had no idea why it happened and spoke to me so disrespectfully, and was argumentative. I've never had someone at a medical office talk to me as poorly as she did. I gave 2 starts rather than 1 because when I did finally get to come in for an appointment, the provider and nurse were very nice and helpful.
Very sad how this clinic has deteriorated. Used to be the best in Pullman, but no longer dependable or accessible. 3 to 6 months to see anybody, and recently my doctor was unavailable for a full year. The last few visits that I was able to get scheduled were rushed and disorganized. Hopefully, their merger with Pullman hospital clinics will help. In the meantime, strongly recommend you look elsewhere for care.
9.14.23 Update: It appears that Palouse Medical is still struggling with finding and keeping providers. I had called at the beginning of August to schedule my annual exam and was told there are no appointments for the rest of the year, that they don't have access to book appointments for 2024 yet and to call back in October after they've hired new providers. The front end staff seemed as frustrated as I was when relaying this information to me. I instead contacted Planned Parenthood and was able to be seen for my annual exam within a week of contacting them. There's a concern that if there are no appointments available that other patients are putting off being seen, this is going to lead to a bigger strain on the ER and become more costly for regular patients to just be seen by a doctor. Not a clue what is going on internally at this clinic, but something has got to give sooner rather than later. ------------ I've been a patient here for around 7-8 years and in that time I've gone through at least 5 different providers, 3 alone in the last 2 years. It's incredibly frustrating not being able to have a consistent care. Each time I have to find a new provider within the clinic, I am billed for a 'new patient appointment' despite being an established patient...even if this is just to get prescriptions renewed. It's become increasingly apparent that providing care for their community is not a top priority, asking them to go the extra mile on anything is also a bit too much to ask. It seems that maybe some of their staff should reevaluate if the medical field is where they actually want to be... All that being said, I really have not had much of an issue with the front end staff like has been mentioned in numerous other reviews. There have been a few times where there has been some phone tag, but overall everyone has been pretty helpful, quick and easy to work with.
