Heartland Dermatology Center

I will try to keep this brief. I transitioned from this practice 10 years ago solely because they did not take my insurance at that time. Fast-forward 10 years, a lot of patient education on my part and countless unnecessary excisions from another practice, I am back and will never leave Heartland Dermatology again. Erin is simply wonderful (her staff are too!) As others have stated, Erin’s bedside manner is second to none. But more so, I fully believe she is never going to put financial gain ahead of what is right for her patients. “Do no harm” is something that she and the entire staff mean in their words and actions. Go here, and you’ll see what I mean. Don’t be like me - do not leave a place and provider you know and trust. Don’t let a medical professional make decisions without being an informed patient with your own knowledge and research. Don’t learn the hard way that there are other providers in town who are absolutely not looking out for your health or well-being.

Their receptionists need better training as I was never asked or given any paperwork asking me to update my address or insurance. By the time I realized that information was not in the packet of papers I was given, I was called back to my appointment. I ended up getting a mole biopsied and noticed the nurse labeling my specimen with my incorrect name. On the way out, I checked in again with the receptionist and told her not only was my name incorrect in your system, but so was my address and insurance. I would've never received my bill and possibly been sent to collections had I not did their job for them.

I looked forward to returning as a patient of Manhattan Dermatology (after moving away with the US Army). I scheduled my appointment in September and was happy to wait until 11/30/2020 to be seen. My appointment was scheduled at 8:45 and I arrived at 8:47 (I went to the old location first & hurriedly drove to the new location). I was stopped by the receptionist (young with blonde hair). She said that I was very late for my appointment and that I would have to re-schedule. I was talked to very condescendingly and left in tears. I would not recommend being a patient at this facility, no matter how good the doctors are. I work in a clerical position where treating paying customers is very important. Erin Thornton found some skin cancer, that I had very early and I have never found a better health provider but, I will never be a patient or recommend anyone to waste their money, just to be treated poorly by the first face that is suppose to welcome you. 12/14/2020 I wanted to reply to the owner’s comment, I do not live in Manhattan & had to travel an hour to two locations. My appointment reminder never said that I needed to arrive 30 minutes early or I would be late. I would never want to back up customers all day. I do have a screenshot of my appointment reminders & asked for paperwork two months early so I would have it ready when I arrived. We did not live in Manhattan when my family was as customers before, but only lived on Fort Riley which was not as far of a drive.

Erin Thornton is amazing! She’s the best dermatologist I have ever seen, and one of the best doctors period. I was just looking her up because I now live in Texas, but plan to be in MHK this summer and prefer to see her than any dermatologist in Houston (I’ve tried a few). She’s thorough in her examination and I appreciate that she always has an assistant in the room, for everyone’s safety and comfort. She’s an excellent communicator, and it’s really hard for me to believe the negative comments I’m seeing in the reviews (hence why I’m taking the time to leave a review at 10 pm when I was just trying to see if I could make an appointment online!). Don’t hesitate to use this doctor. You’ll never find a better one!

My daughter and I have been going here for a few years now. We love PA Erin. She is always so understanding and knowledgeable. She takes time to listen to our concerns. I have also seen Nurse Kerri for laser treatments and she is also great, makes you feel very comfortable.
