Skin Oasis Dermatology: Katina Miles, MD, FAAD

I was referred by my sister who is a registered nurse. I really thought that my hair loss was just gonna be that and eventually I would be wearing a total wig while Dr. Miles made me comfortable. Gave me something to hold onto. My hair is not falling out anymore And I thank her so very much.

Dr. Miles and all of her staff are professionals. She was recommended by a friend and lived up to recommendation. She was able to quickly assess my skin and hair issue, come up with a treatment plan, administer treatment and fill my prescription within 30 minutes of me being there. I definitely recommend this practice! She also pierced my daughters ear on our second visit and did a great job of calming her down and preparing her for her piercing.

Follow up to the answer from the doctor from my original review in my name , Nancy. I did not receive any phone calls to confirm my appointment that I made online. I did receive 2 text messages that did not allow me to log in since my email was already being used. Your receptionist told me you had surgery that day and would not be able to see me so she scheduled me for the next day. She was rude then, and the next day when I returned, she was even worse. My daughter and her husband who came with me, were horrified by the way she treated me. They also agreed it was because of my skin color. I don’t know how you watching a video with no sound would allow you to see what really happened, especially since you couldn’t hear what was said. And if you did have sound recoded , it is illegal in the state of Maryland to record sound on a video without written consent. Reading your other reviews, I am not the only person who has been treated poorly by your staff, it seems to be an ongoing issue, which you obviously don’t care to correct. On another note, you saw my daughter a few days later and totally missed diagnosed her!!! She has gone elsewhere and has been properly diagnosed and is being treated by a competent doctor and wonderful staff. I also have found a wonderful dermatology office, Dockside in Millersville. Wonderful staff and a competent doctor. Learn from your mistakes and teach your staff to do better! Have a blessed day and good luck with your practice.

My daughter told me excitedly that she found a Dermatologist with good reviews. I was happy for her, I asked her where the Doctor was located and she told me Gambrills. I said it's not Katina Miles is it. She said yes, have you been to her. I told her yes and no, I then told her about my experience (previously provided on Yelp-R.S) My daughter said she had really good reviews and I told her that she needs to read them all and that the staff are rude and should not be in a customer/patient services profession. We read a few reviews together and lots of them emphasized rudeness of the staff. After reading the reviews, I stumbled across a review from Nancy and I totally felt her frustration, especially after reading the response from Dr. Miles, I was in disbelief that a “professional Doctor” would respond to a patient in that manner. No apology, no empathy, just another slap in the face. Clearly Dr. MILES is the issue. I felt inclined to submit a new review based on what Nancy wrote and I totally agree with Nancy’s post. Furthermore, in my original post, I commented by saying that this practice would lose patients if they continued treating people unprofessionally and it appears they are keeping up with the same practice. There are plenty of good Dermatologist in the area, no one should have to experience this type of treatment when all they want is a good Doctor and professional staff.

My first time at this office as a patient, my daughter came here a long time ago, so I thought I would try it. I made the appointment online for 11:30, got to the office at 11:15 and was told me appointment was for 10:30 and I was not going to be seen that day. The doctor had a surgery so I could not be fit back in. I told the receptionist, who was already very rude, that I made the appointment for 11:30. She told me I should have done the check in and I would have seen my appointment time. I told her that their check in said my email was not valid. She looked it up and said that my email address was already being used, and that is why it would allow me to check in. GET A BETTER SYSTEM!, not my fault. I was then told I could come back at 2 the next day, so that's what I did. I also made sure that I was not going to be charged that ridiculous fee of $100 for a missed appointment, and was told I would not be. The next day, I got a text saying I missed my appt. and was going to be charged that fee. I arrived at 2:00 and the receptionist, same one, told me to have a seat, then she called me up to refill out a page of paperwork. I asked her about the $100 fee and she told me since I didn't come back for my 2:00 appt yesterday, I was being charged. I couldn't believe it! I was told to come back the next day because the doctor had surgery!! So, I gave her back her forms and said I was done with this office and would be leaving this review. She laughed at me! I have never been treated so poorly, by a receptionist, ever! I never got to see the doctor, so I can not comment on her, but her reception staff is horrible, rude, unfriendly and should not be the face of her practice, a reflection on her. May I also suggest a refresher in diversity training for this staff member, as I felt there was a reason for her rudeness, especially when I saw her interacting with other patients who were not like me.
