Had a wonderful experience with Dr. Gregory S. Messenger today! He was kind, patient, and really listened the concerns I had about my skin. He helped me come up with a treatment plan for my acne which makes me feel hopeful and he made me feel heard. His staff was very knowledgeable and sweet during my appointment as well!
Had a basel cell on my nose. The younger Messenger didn't take time to talk to me about it. All he said was I'll cut it off, gave me a shot of whatever in my nose then cut it out which left a huge divot in my nose. The he told me I'll have to have more dug out and then examined and if cancerous, a plastic surgeon would cut skin behind my ears and patch the hole in my nose. if he would have told me all of this, I would have told him he can cut it out but only flush to my nose. So I have never gone back because like so many doctors offices, patients are just a number and they push them in and out as quick as they can. More money obviously. The good old days are gone where the doctors spent time with the patient. It's all about money now. Medical schools should teach more about how to treat patients.
Dr. Messenger the son, is who I saw. All of the staff minus Beth were very pleasant and polite. The Doctor was very professional throughout the whole process. I am very disappointed in Manager Beth. I feel she should get more training when It comes to filling out paperwork for those who are needing to be off for an extended amount of time. My work uses Guardian for my main short-term policy with an option to purchase AFLAC as a supplemental policy. I was seen for multiple visits requiring me to be off for several months. I drive for a living and unfortunately where the procedures were done, I was in no way able to drive while they needed time to heal. This lady filled out my paperwork for Guardian for a month which is NOT what Dr. Messenger, myself and my primary doctor discussed. I had my primary doctor fill out the guardian paperwork as we discussed, therefore rendering her paperwork useless. As far as my AFLAC paperwork, I had to see if Dr. Messenger could sign some paperwork for the AFLAC and she decided to have only allowed it for my last visit. So essentially she wrote me off for my first and last visit but not the four other treatments in between. Her response was that I was "Double Dipping". I last stopped in Feb 12th to only see the paperwork incorrectly filled out. Today the 26th of Feb, I got a certified letter stating I am no longer a client and to seek care somewhere else. Thanks Dr. Messenger! Really sad your Manager is running your business in the ground. Will I recommend this place? As long as Beth is not a manager, I will. (proceeded with caution)
Dr. Xu seemed more interested in getting out of the room as quickly as possible than in speaking to me. A container of unpackaged, pre-filled syringes sits on the exam room counter where patients are left alone with the door closed. There is no way the staff can be sure that these are not contaminated.
I would give this place 0 stars if I could. I scheduled with this clinic because I had a suspicious growth on my nose, and was concerned by it. I also had some skin irritation and was unsure of how to treat it. Dr. Xu was a condescending jerk the entire time (a whole 5 minutes) that I met with him. He was smirking during the appointment and when I expressed concern over the skin irritation, he was half-laughing that I didn't know how to treat it. This is literally his job- to tell me what I don't know. The way he went about it was abysmal. He suggested I use a specific name brand cream, which I wasn't familiar with. He was referring to Destin, which is a diaper rash cream, to which I shared I wasn't familiar with, and he responded with "clearly, you've never had a baby". What a dickish thing to say to someone, especially a woman in her early thirties. On top of it all, he wrote me a prescription to help me with another issue I was having, only for it to send me to the ER with high blood pressure and heart palpitations. He didn't ask me about my medical history, what medications I'm currently taking, or mention any potential side effects- he just quickly suggested I begin taking a pill without any other info. Even the ER staff was confused about why that happened. Not only was there a $50 copay (which I was aware of as part of my health insurance) but then I get a bill for another $130, to have only met with him for 5 minutes, been condescended to, and have an ER complication as a result of medication mismanagement. I am never coming back, and telling everyone I know to avoid this place.
