I’ve had several frustrating experiences with Dermatology Consultants at 2270 Ford Parkway in Highland Park and feel compelled to share my dissatisfaction. In the last 2-3 weeks, I’ve been sent away twice due to late cancellations by the doctor. The first time, I missed their voicemail (even though I confirmed the appointment the day before), and this morning, I was called at 8:30am with my phone on silent and no message left. I only need a quick 5-minute check-up, but it feels like I’m being given the runaround. This isn’t the first issue I’ve had with this clinic. The doctor I saw before my current one was patronizing and dismissive, and I needed to be seen twice due to scheduling issues. I also needed a body scan, but was told by a tech that the doctor had the choice to do it (since it’s a quick procedure) but refused because it wasn’t on her schedule. As a result, I had to make a separate appointment and pay two co-pays. Currently, I’m dealing with similar struggles. I’ve had to reschedule twice because the doctor called in the morning of my appointment, and no one else was available to see me. As someone who lives on a tight budget, having to take time off and lose two days of work is incredibly frustrating, especially when I’m turned away. When I asked who I could escalate this to, I was told there was no one to speak to, which is why I’m posting this here. If anyone has had similar issues with this clinic, or can recommend a dermatologist who provides better service and listens to their patients, I would really appreciate it. P.S. As a licensed healthcare professional with over a decade of customer service experience, the level of service here (or lack of) is completely unacceptable.
I had seen some negative reviews when they were located on Snelling Avenue, so I purposely didn’t contact them. I regretted it, because they were so close to where I lived and it would be convenient, as my regular clinic was located miles away. But when my own dermatologist retired and I needed a new resource, I noticed a new clinic on Ford Parkway, and so I contacted them. Only after I was there did I learn that it was the same organization that had been on Snelling. I’ve had four appointments with them over the last couple of years, and I’m very satisfied in every regard. I don’t doubt the negative reviews accurately reflect those people’s experiences, but my own experiences have been very positive. I’m glad I have this resource to turn to now.
I showed up on time, cooperated, waited around for 40 minutes when a care provider came out and told me I would have to wait probably another 35-40 minutes to be seen. That would have meant starting the appointment over an hour late. I hadn't allotted that long and needed to get to my own meetings, so I do appreciate not being left alone in the lobby to rot for an hour. I asked if there was perhaps a way to schedule my appointments to avoid having the same thing happen again (answer: not really). I see that the clinic did initiate a refund for my $200 deposit. Quite a bad first impression. I won't be back.
I didn’t have a great experience with the front desk, so this will be my first and last time calling. I called to schedule an appointment with Dr. X at the St. Paul office, but the first available appointment was months away. I asked if Dr. X had any sooner availability at other locations, but instead, they tried to schedule me with another doctor. When I politely clarified that I was asking about a sooner appointment with Dr. X at other locations, they said I had declined the St. Paul appointment and completely dismissed my request. (How hard is it to just say, ‘Sorry, there’s no availability at other locations either, but I can schedule you with Dr. Y’?) I guess their 3/5 rating makes total sense now.
Excellent Doctors Excellent care. I preferred the simple St Paul office on Snelling at I-94 but I understand change. The parking is difficult to find. They should put an arrow on either side of the ramp to indicate the way to the parking instead of just one side that suggests you go out to the street
