Waterville Residential Care Center

We were invited to go this center with our baby goats. (NY Goat Yoga helps to spread the benefits of animal therapy.) Their Activities Director is the one who invited us. You can tell the team there take great pride in caring for their residents. They host lovely activities for their residents and their families. It was a pleasure making their faces light up with baby goat loving!

My husband has been at this facility. I praise every individual here from the kitchen employees, laundry employees, Cleaning and maintenance, Full nursing staff, PT and OT, Dr. Jeffers, he had excellent care. Very clean building, excellent food, All office personnel was great and very understanding. I personally rate this place a 5 star. I can’t Thank everyone enough for all your compassion and gentleness for my husband. ♥️♥️

This place is worse than terrible. My father was placed there for rehabilitation and later made permenant. Needless to say he was walking before he went there and 2 1/2 moths later was and still is unable to walk. He was completely neglected. Left in soiled garments for hours. They would hide the call button so he couldn’t get help when needed. Locked him out of his cell phone so he couldn’t call us when he needed help. There was numerous times we had to call there to send someone to his room to either change him or put him in bed. He would just sit in a wheelchair for hours. His wallet with all of his personal belongings were taken home by a staff member for what reason , I have no idea. Me being his oldest son wasn’t allowed to talk to anyone about my fathers condition and was never notified about anything that happened to him while he was there until 2 days before we had taken him out of that place. While in there he contracted a terrible infection in his genitals, bed sores, and a nasty rash along with abnormal bumps on his legs. The day we went there to get him we were told if he could get in his wheelchair and safely in our car that they would let him leave. That’s when we learned that he was completely immobilized. The PT guy then told us if we got his own wheelchair and a Homer lift and a wheelchair accessible transport that they would help get him ready for discharge.So the next morning we went there with all of the essentials only to be told that they couldn’t help us. Then when I went and got his chair and lift and brought it to his room to do it myself they decided to change their minds for liability reasons. Then after he had signed himself out we learned that his transport was canceled for what reason I have no clue. With it being on a Saturday and most transport companies require a 3-5 day notice to schedule. But luckily we had contacted another company that was able to provide him with transportation after he had sat in the lobby for over 3 hours. We finally were able to get him out of there and into an apartment which is a retirement building with wheelchair accessibility and all of the safety features only to be turned into Adult Protective Services ( from the wrong county). But now that he’s out of there he is much happier, cared for and provided with all of the essentials for comfort. His bed sores, rash and infections are finally gone and he is doing much better, no thanks to Waterville Residential Care. A word of advise… don’t let any loved ones be put in this elderly detention center. They will be mistreated, not properly taken care of and completely neglected!

The work to get better and stronger is hard but this group of professionals knows what they are doing. When to be kind and when to push us. I could have gone to the best rehab in the country and could not have found a better group to get me back on my feet. Work hard and listen to what they want you to do because that’s the way to success. A big thank you to everyone in the OT and PT department here at Waterville, NY.
