UPMC Aesthetic Plastic Surgery

Update: Notice the lack of positive reviews about Dr. Peter Rubin. He butchered my body and left me numb and severely scarred with marked assymetry. Absolute horrible outcome and poor clinical judgement and decision making from this team. Check out my pics for proof. No way! Terrible experience and surgical outcome TWICE. Left scarred, traumatized, and ignored by UPMC. Incomplete surgical consents and documents going into the OR- curious how a proper timeout was completed??? Numb breasts and left areola, scars all over my breasts due to incisions I did not consent to, severe assymetry, all done by the the head of aesthetics- an educator in the field. Go somewhere else this doctor ruined my life !!!!

As a long time surgical nurse my standards are very high. I found Dr. Gusenoff to be an exceptional surgeon in all respects. He and his team are immediately responsive. His surgical skills are outstanding, and I could not be more pleased with my results. I highly recommend Dr. Gusenoff.

Dr. Gusenoff and his team changed my life. I saw Dr. Gusenoff for a panniculectomy and a mastopexy (breast lift) in October 2019. To say I'm thrilled with my results would be an understatement. I worked so hard to lose weight through diet and exercise, but even at my lowest weight I never felt comfortable in my skin. I constantly had redundant skin that would tear and become painfully inflamed. It was inhibiting my exercise regimen and having a major impact on my self-confidence. Also through weight loss my breasts became what I referred to as, "puddles of skin". I was mortified to put a bathing suit on, wear a low-cut shirt, or even wear my scrubs at work because you could see my wrinkled breast tissue spilling out of my bra. Needless to say, it was really impacting how I felt about myself. I was so excited to have gotten as far as I had over the years, but it was so depressing to still have issues with rashes and excessive skin. I knew it was time to seek out a plastic surgeon to help me complete my journey. There are so many qualified and talented plastic surgeons in the Pittsburgh area, but after seeing the outcomes of Dr. Gusenoff's patients, I knew he was the right one for me. I met with Dr. Gusenoff; his fellow, Dr. Brower; and his physician's assistant, Autumn for a consult. They were so professional and made me feel as comfortable as possible. It is unnerving to stand naked in front of a group of people and have them evaluate you for surgery, I'm not going to lie. As awkward as I felt, they did everything to try and to make me feel at ease. Looking back, I now know that day changed my life profoundly. The office manager Barb was amazing as well. She reviewed the estimate in detail for my cosmetic mastopexy, as well as the insurance approval process for the medical portion of my procedure. She contacted me about a week later with the good news that my panniculectomy had been approved and set up my surgery date, as well as my pre-op visit. On the day of my surgery, Dr. Gusenoff and Dr. Brower met me in pre-op, marked me for surgery, and took some final pictures. They were amazing and definitely calmed my nerves before heading into the OR. Also, I cannot say enough about the awesome team at Magee. The care I received throughout this entire procedure was second to none. The nurses and OR staff took exceptional care of me. For the first time I did not wake up with a sore throat after general anesthesia, and my pain was well-managed. I stayed overnight and all of the nurses and patient care techs that I encountered were so attentive and compassionate. I was monitored closely throughout my post-op period, and had several follow-ups in the office to make sure everything was healing appropriately. I am now 3 months out, and I am so excited be able to engage in all activities that I was too self-conscious for in the past. I no longer have the fear of my skin tearing or breaking down, my saggy breasts falling out of my bra, or the horror of someone seeing me naked. My only regret is that I wish I would have done this sooner. If you are considering a panniculectomy, abdominoplasty, mastopexy, or other surgery related to excess skin after weight loss, I cannot recommend Dr. Gusenoff and his team enough. For the first time in my life I have confidence, that's priceless to me.

Dr Gusenoff is my go to plastic surgeon for everything. He’s absolutely amazing. I fly across the country from LA just to see him. I will be a life long patient of his. Thanks for being the best Doc!!!

"Phenomenal" is how I would describe my surgery with Dr. Gusenoff. From the secretariat the office to the nurses in the OR all the staff are excellent and so kind. I wouldn't have had it no other way I am very pleased!
