Dermatology Associates of the Lowcountry

I have unfortunately had several biopsies in my adult life and today was the most painless to date. I wanted to share in case anyone reading is super nervous about the pain involved. The lady who numbed me is named Melonie (sp?) and I will always request her in the future. I could not believe how painless it was compared to times past. Also I see NP Elizabeth Liggett. I find her conversational personality really eases me when I'm uptight over the procedures. She's very down to earth and kindof funny, too. But she's really in tune with what's happening on your body and will be frank with risks and treatments. This is my 3rd practice I've been to over the past 20 years and I plan to stay here.

I made an appointment with the office for my children (both 17 years old) for a day when there was no school so they wouldn't miss classes. Completed all the paperwork including submitting my insurance weeks before the appointment. I called the day before the appointment to make sure that they received the paperwork. My children were accompanied by my Mother who was listed in the paperwork as a responsible party and emergency contact. As instructed we also brought the new patient paperwork to the appointment. The person at the desk was Ashley and was not the person I made the appointment with nor the person I confirmed the appointment with. She said that a parent needed to bring them, not the grandmother, even though she was listed in the paperwork as a decision maker. She also said that we needed a referral for the appointment from our insurance company. Our insurance does not require referrals yet they said that the policy of the office which is fine, but at no time, even when they knew what my insurance was, did they say that we needed the referral. Ashley agreed that there was a lack of communication from their office yet refused to allow them to be seen and said that we were not welcome at this practice. Not sure what more could have been done om my part to secure the appointment and Ashley was less than helpful. Also not sure why we were not welcome back to the practice. No one was rude or loud, just frustrated. I hope that the doctors of the practice see this an strive to make improvements in communication and customer service of their front desk employees. Zero stars.

Since my previous review was erased I will post it again. I had called April 8 to the Okatie office to make an appointment as a new patient. The person who handle the call was so rude. She seemed very bothered by the way my name was spelled I guess she didn’t like the fact that it wasn’t an American name. After asking for my last name and getting the same attitude O told her thank you very much but I will call somewhere else. Based on other reviews it seems other customers have had the same issue with reception.

Dr. Beard is seriously the best! I had to remove a cyst back in november which another dr. did , it ended up getting infected which needed another surgery now in june. i had dr beard do it this time and the experience went by so much smoother and i felt prioritized w her. she’s very nice and smart. i also like miss taylor , she’s very nice as well and always made me feel comfortable while talking about all my issues. if you come here for your skin needs definitely ask for dr beard or assistant taylor !!!
