Dr Dunlavey is the best. She is skilled and knowledgeable. You can't go wrong with her care. I'm sure the other Dr's are great as well. I first saw Dr Stretcher 40 years ago. It's wonderful seeing Dr Dunlavey carrying on the tradition.

When I called to scheduled an appointment to establish care for my melanoma follow up/skin checks, the receptionist referred to me as “the young cancer one”. I was really taken back but she told me I was in a special pile and was going to be scheduled sooner. I appreciated that much, so I didn’t read into the unprofessional comment. For my appointment I was brought back by the nurse who only asks if I “wanted a skin check orrrrr?” I told her to leave it at the doctors discretion assuming she didn’t have my new patient paperwork. Doctor was late and hurried. Did her skin check but ironically never even looked at the 2 inch scar on the back my neck where the melanoma occurred only the year prior. I was asked more than 3 times who the referring doctor was (who has all the records) She wasn’t overly interested in a history from me. Just a waste of time without my medical history. She was still talking while exiting the room. At check out the woman barely acknowledging me said “ you’re the lucky one I have to get all these records for “ never looked up once. I made a joke- hoping I would have ONE pleasant encounter in this office. No luck. Overall, super unpleasant and unprofessional supportive staff and unprepared medical team. Not what I want for a very long life of skin checks.

I have never been to this office before. I had moved to Spartanburg 2 1/2 years ago from Greenwood. My primary dermatologist went between Abbeville and Anderson. In 2013 I had stage 3 melanoma, surgery on left thigh with also a few lymph nodes removed, then November of 2021, I was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic melanoma to left lung and both breasts. That required major surgery and treatments, but I’m alive and ok. I phoned several dermatologists here in Spartanburg this past January to get established here, so I wasn’t always driving to Anderson. Most offices said, no Medicaid, or no new Medicaid patients. So even with my severe history, I found no one. On November 26, around a month ago, I had an appointment with my oncologist who referred me to this practice. 3 weeks later, still no call. I called them today. They said I had an appointment in January and was a no call , no show, I explained to the receptionist all the above, and I don’t remember missing any appointment. Not that I’m not at fault. Even though my oncologist referred me to this specific doctor, they are refusing to see me due to “policies” Melanoma twice , with last being stage 4. I’m lucky to still be alive, and they wanna blow me off talking about “policies “ I do not deny that yes I maybe I did call no show because no one around would take new Medicaid patients. I also now have Medicare. This is absolutely ridiculous, horrible, saddening, for a medical facility. I completely understand, my illnesses are no worse than anyone else . I would not recommend my dying close anyone to this medical practice. My oncologist referral is not enough. I am completely upset and just in awe that medical professionals can be so pathetic

Our experience with Cyst removal was top notch and 5 Stars from beginning to end. Dr Bomar is our provider, we were in for a consult on 02/28/2025 for my 17 year old son and scheduled for in house surgery on 02/28/25. We have made the switch from another large Derm practice in Spartanburg based on our experience. When I called the practice my son went to for 5-6 years about whether they could do a cyst removal, the “call center” said yes. Got a consult scheduled for 01/03/2025, our provider said the practice was not sterile for a procedure for the size of his cyst, referred us out to Spartanburg Regional general surgery where I waited for referral paperwork to get sent and kept following up for 2 weeks and they kept saying they never received it. I finally decided to call around and love how responsive this practice is, they actually pick up the phone and not a Call Center. Dr Bomar has a great bedside manner with my teenage son and we have made the switch fully from our previous practice.
