Excel Eye Center

I am in my 30's, and had begun to lose my vision due to the emergence of cataracts and my bad astigmatism. This was a huge blow, as I had previously had eye surgery after growing up near-sighted, and was once again in a position where I couldn't drive, and was losing my ability to work on any computer screen with light backgrounds or text. Dr. Ricks helped me get my life back. In every appointment leading up to my decision to get surgery he was attentive, patient, and competent. We decided to go with a special category of cataract lens where we could make refinements after the surgery to optimize the right balance of vision between near, mid, and far distances. This was very neat, because although I was seeing much better immediately after the surgery, the refinements made things even better during my follow-up appointments after the surgeries on my eyes. His team were also a big part of that process. Christian and Stella were supportive each time I went in, always keeping me at ease. They were also very good at answering my questions and getting the measurements in place for me to have a successful surgery based on accurate information. Same goes for the other team members involved at various points, I just interfaced with Christian and Stella the most. Going into the actual surgery, Dr. Ricks did an excellent job despite the complicated situation presented by my eye shape and previous medical history. With everything said and done, I see 20/20 now at mid and far distances, and I only occasionally need reading glasses for smaller text on food labels or similar. I will be forever grateful to Dr. Ricks and his team at Excel, and couldn't recommend them enough. I also recommend the light-adjustable cataract lenses for anyone who wants the ability to refine the outcome of their surgery after-the-fact. The investment was worth it for me!

Dr. Ricks is an amazing doctor! He is a fun person, light-hearted and I trust his abilities. I had cataract surgery and had light-adjustable lenses put in both eyes. Surgeries were a breeze and a blessing. My vision is now 20/20. The office is well-managed, the staff is friendly and my wait time was never more than 10 minutes. My 3 year old had a freak accident where he completely severed his tear duct and required surgery. I cannot say enough good things about our experience with Dr. Engen and staff. It was as seamless as an experience like this can be. They were so gentle and kind with my son, and it has healed perfectly. We see so grateful to Dr. Engen!

I recently had PRK with Dr. Ricks at Excel Eye Center, and the whole experience was amazing. From the first consultation to post-op care, everything was smooth and way better than I expected. Dr Woolley is Greta and helped me through a difficult eye situation with kindness and quickly referring me to the ER. That timeliness saved my eyesight.
