City Dermatology of Northern Virginia: Margaret Kopelman, MD

I have seen several dermatologists in my 18 years in the DMV. None compare to my experience with Dr. Kopelman. She was so kind, knowledgeable, a great listener and took her time to evaluate all my bloodwork and health history. Great experience at this practice. Her nurse is also fantastic - Super nice. The exam room was super clean and comfy and I loved her examination furniture. It was very comfy. My only criticism is with the staff at the front desk. They are not very welcoming and really counter all of Dr. Kopelman's awesome energy. That is one area of recommended improvement for me - other than that, great practice and phenomenal physician. February 2024 I took my son today to remove a skin tag. He was super anxious about the while thing, but Dr. Kopelman is simply fantastic. She eased his nerves... walked him through the process. When we were walking out, he told the receptionist "This was the best Dr visit ever!" Love this practice. Love Dr. Kopelman. ❤️🙏🏽

She was very thorough but I took a months to get in to see her and by that time the skin condition my son had been having on and off had gone away. She said we could come back in immediately when it came up again so I called a month later when it came up and got in two days later. I unfortunately had to pay for both visits despite the first one being somewhat pointless. But the reason I’m giving 3 starts is because she “shushed” me when I tried to answer a question regarding my 7 year old son. She put the finger up and everything. It was very rude… never have I ever had a doctor do that to me when taking my kids in.

Dr. Kopelman is truly a gem and reassures me every time I’m in the room with her. She has a very calming presence and great energy about her. Truly makes an uncomfortable experience better!

This review is several weeks late, but has been on my mind not to neglect to post. Good availability of parking in a safe neighborhood. Pleasant and efficient staff. Dr Kopelman is pleasant, considerate and focused. I felt that I had her full attention throughout. She addressed all my concerns, even the unspoken ones. I recommend this doctor and office without reservation. I expect that you will be pleased and satisfied. I have recommended her to family and friends in the interim.

Simply the best and brightest!! I saw her once a month for 9 months and was always delighted. The practice runs so smoothly that I didn’t even tell my boss I was running out to an appointment. The staff are very friendly, helpful, and kind. As a 27 year old, I was sick of having hormonal acne. I went to 2 other dermatologists before deciding to go with Dr Kopelman. I went on accutane and she was very thorough about the risks/benefits, took a detailed medical history and ran all the appropriate blood tests. She didn’t try to upsell me on facials or other aesthetic services like other doctors, she’s the real deal and practices based on science and evidence! Seeing her every month was fun and I always learned something new about skin health. She also has helped me with other issues like eczema and now I’m going back (acne-free!) for a skin cancer examination. I’m so happy I found Dr Kopelman. You will be too!!
