Surprised there are such great reviews on this doctor. Pretty horrible bedside manner. Always trying to get out the door. There must be a pretty bad shortage of dermatologists if this guy is booked out weeks. Tried to charge more than our normal speciality copay with a weird explanation. Watch your wallet!

I do think this could be a good dermatology to visit for your skin needs; however, it wasn’t until after my visit that I realized how sneaky the office can be to ensure they get as much extra money out of you as they can. The purpose of my visit was for a preventive skin care check. I made sure to state this multiple times that I was only here for this check that would be covered 100% by my insurance. When I finally met with the nurse and doctor we did meet to go over the purpose of my visit. However, when the doctor noticed some areas of my skin that was not as ideal he decided to take it upon himself to diagnose me. He went more detailed and provided me medication I should take which I thought was nice but was still confused since I didn’t request anything outside of the scope of my visit. This would be like if you went to the dentist for a cleaning and they decided to treat your cavity, or visiting the doctor for a normal check and they decided to give you a shot without your permission or desire. This isn’t to say you don’t need what was recommended but still it was not discussed and aligned upon since usually this goes into other areas such as time and finances that most people would not be ready for. Because of the doctor’s deviation from the purpose of my visit, I was then billed a large amount I was not expecting to receive due to it no longer being a considered or billed as a preventative visit. To me, I found this practice completely unprofessional and soured my view of this office and the team. I do believe they can be good at what they do but it appears they are looking for a minimum amount of money to make a patient visit worthwhile by diagnosing them against their wishes. I would caution anyone visiting this office to be very careful and ensure they are meeting to check up and discuss only what you came in for. You might leave feeling happy with how helpful the team seemed to be but I’m sure will regret it later once you’ve received an invoice for charges you weren’t expecting.

Money hungry. He expects payment up front of $300 even though he is in network with my insurance - promising a refund after he's paid. I don't even think that is legal- and who knows if he is really going to give the money back? And don't trust any of these good reviews. He gives away a bag of products to patients who leave 5 star reviews so they are less than sincere.

I came to see Doctor Gary Chuang after reading some good reviews. Initially, I had a great impression. However, I had one appointment that was rushed (there were several patients waiting) and I called afterwards to ask a question. I spoke to Cecily, and asked to leave a message for the doctor. She refused to let me leave a message and said I could write an email. I asked again to be able to leave a voice message asking a question and she again said no. I said that I was really disappointed and I've never had a doctor's office refuse to let me reach out by phone to a doctor (especially shortly after a rushed appointment). I eventually said I would write a review, and she raised her voice telling me she did not appreciate me threatening her and hung up. While I had a good impression of Doctor Chuang, I wish Cecily were more considerate and helpful.

Great Dr. He’s very friendly and knowledgeable. My whole family has gone to see him and he’s taken great care of all of us. He’s very gentle and great at making sure there is little to no scarring.
