Clarus Dermatology - Otsego

Very odd experience. Virtual receptionist on a big iPad was who greeted me. Hard to understand her. Had to show my credit card to her screen for her to capture the info. Virtual nurse was on an iPad in the room— even when I was changing. They put the screen facedown, but it was still very awkward and strange. Maybe this will be the norm in the future, but it felt very impersonable. Tara was nice, but talked very fast and the whole thing felt a little rushed. She had a student shadowing her which is fine but felt like I had a pretty big audience for a very intimate exam. Not sure I’ll come back. I would rather a more warm personal experience. They quoted me about $300 for a full body scan, which is out of pocket for me, just if anyone is wondering on price. I left without anyone saying goodbye because there isn’t a real receptionist.

I went in for a skin tag removal- they had the nurse “remove” it- when I got home, IT WAS STILL THERE. She snipped the skin right next to it and missed the tag completely. I called to let them know and they asked for me to come in again. I asked who it’d be with, and they were going to have me with the same nurse. I declined and just decided to leave it as is. No refund. I also asked for my records to be transferred months ahead of time- I called both clinics, signed the release form, etc. I came in for my visit and the receptionist said she didn’t request them. I asked why and she said “well you’re really young, so you probably don’t even need them” I was shocked! I have had many skin concerns and have a history of skin cancer in the family. I had about 10 years worth of records. Really horrible experience.

Surgery today was as great of an experience as surgery for skin cancer can be. Nathan Jones is always excellent and Kim , my nurse, was compassionate and kind. They are both always patient with my questions and truly care about their patients. Highly recommend them!

This was my first time at Clarus and I was very impressed. Terra was very professional, listened to my issues and genuinely seemed to care. She came up with a solution that I’m hoping will help me. I was able to get an appointment very quickly which was super important to me and I’m grateful for. Highly recommend

Plenty of parking. Clean building. Easy to find office. They have a virtual assistant at the front desk, a little different, but effective. Staff seemed very friendly and helpful. I'll be retuning.
